Album Review: Crisis In Hollywood - Safe and Sound

Orlando's Crisis In Hollywood's latest effort, 'Safe and Sound' sees the four-piece mixing punk rock riffs with pop hooks. The albums title track is a prime example of this, with its driving beat and catchy vocal delivery; it begins the album off on a high point.

While 'Breakup/Breakdown' has that same drive but at more laid back pace and with a catchy chorus. 'Walking Right Into A Nightmare' is an upbeat number and continues the feel good rhythm that Crisis In Hollywood does well. Throughout the album there are other examples of this including 'Can't Turn Around.'

'Don't Overeact' sees the band slowing things down to create a calming radio-friendly track, with a chorus that quickly becomes memorable and has you reaching for the repeat button. The same came be said for 'Something's Changed In Me' a piano-based ballad with strong vocals.

'Nobody Blames You' is a through and through rock song with soaring vocals and edgier guitars. 'The Drinking Song' is a stomping punk track that rounds off the 'Safe and Sound' well.

On the whole 'Safe and Sound' sets out to be a well-produced, impressive record with good songs throughout, which have been performed tightly. One first listen the record is impressive and strikes a chord, while after a few more listens some tracks can be skipped, due to the lack of diversity in structure.
