Album Review: Bangers/Break the Habit - Split EP

Featuring two of the most exciting up and coming punk bands the UK scene currently has to offer, the new split EP from Falmouth’s ‘Bangers’ and ‘Brighton’s ‘Break the Habit’ is a record that is more than worthy of your attention.

Kicking off proceedings with five healthy doses of melodic skate punk, it quickly becomes evident why ‘Bangers’ have made a name for themselves as a one to watch. Packed to bursting throughout with sing-a-long choruses, driving guitars and ramshackle drums ‘Bangers’ have absolutely no right to be this good, this young. Chock full of sneering ‘up yours’ attitude and displaying a level of song writing that belies their immaturity as a band, on this evidence this Cornish trio could really be heading places. Impressive stuff indeed.

With a seriously tough act to follow, ‘Break the Habit’s’ four track contribution struggles to hit the heights attained by their Cornish compatriots, but nonetheless isn’t short on highlights of its own. These south coast boys play hard and fast, and despite some occasionally dodgy vocals there’s plenty on display here to admire, with the rolling bass and twin guitar chug of ‘CxWxP’ in particular proving a worthy closing to proceedings.

Buy this now and turn it up to eleven.
