Album Review: I Am Forever - We Are The Fire

I Am Forever hail from Pilton in Somerset and describe themselves as dynamic with soft verses and epic choruses, taking influences from pop to metal and everything in between. ‘We are the Fire’ is their debut release and it shows the band showcasing their massive potential across just 4 tracks.

Having been together for just 2 years the band has spent this time touring up and down the country playing with great up and coming bands such as Tonight is Goodbye and Attack! Attack! to name just 2. Its to our benefit that they have finally managed to get some music onto disc and it could just push them onto the next level.

The 1st track ('Without Me') begins with a gorgeous intro before slowing down to allow singer Lucas Gulliford’s vocals show their strength, I’m instantly hooked! This isn’t anything new or different but it is done very well and the first track leaves me eager to hear more.

‘Can’t Expect A Miracle’ begins in more of a pop punk vein to the previous track, upping the tempo some more. The vocals remain strong with driving guitars, hard hitting drums and some nice samples in the background. ‘We Are The Fire’, the 3rd track hears Gulliford singing the line ’waiting to explode’ over again. I think this band has the potential to do exactly that, if they keep up this high level of songwriting!

The EP closer ('Fight For The Weak') starts with a lovely almost Thrice-esque guitar solo, before the whole band kicks in, picking up the pace and showing the bands obvious pop punk influences once again with some nice group vocal harmonies thrown into the mix for good measure.

This is a really strong collection of 4 songs showing some great versatility by the band, these guys can be lumped into the same bracket as up and coming bands such as Wolf Am I as they are similar in style but do it bloody well. I look forward to hearing where they go from here.
