Album Review: Stagecoach - We Got Tazers

Stagecoach could be described as a quirky indie-pop band, but thankfully not they are not the type of band in that genre, that quickly becomes annoying.

'We Got Tazers' is their debut release on Alcopop Records and is an EP that shows promise and is enjoyable. The title track opens with it's bouncy tempo and highly catchy chorus, that retains its roughly, indie sound.

'Break' is well-structured and is perhaps the records loudest track, in the sense that it is dominated by guitars and fierce drums. Whilst 'Ice Age' is light yet complex with its jazz-like bass, jangly guitars and intriguing lyrics.

'Hotdoggin' has that 90's "britpop" sound that adds variation to the bands repertoire and more than a strange, catchy guitar band. 'Good Luck With Your 45' closes the EP (if you exclude the bonus remix track) and has a calm, lounge-like melody with alternative country twist, that on the whole sounds rather British.

'We Got Tazers' is a favourable debut but there seems to something missing. Nevertheless there is plenty to here to build on. Stagecoach's ability to refrain from going off on a more experimental route, is welcomed as they position themselves to write structured songs with a slight quirkiness.
