Single Review Round-Up: 30 Seconds To Mars, Frank Turner & Pegasus Bridge

Our latest single review round-up includes new singles from 30 Seconds To Mars, Frank Turner and Pegasus Bridge.

30 Seconds To Mars - Kings and Queens
Released on November 30th on Virgin Records
Jared Leto and company are back and sounding as brash and grand as ever with 'Kings and Queens', the first single from new album 'This Is War'. The bands cinematic brand of rock sounds loud and proud as ever, with Jared crying out 'We were the kings and queens of promise' in a chorus that sounds bright both musically and lyrically.

As a first single it gives a lot of hope for the new album, as it proves to be instantly favourable.

4/5

Frank Turner - Poetry of the Deed
Released on November 16th on Xtra Mile Recordings/Epitaph Records

From the superb album of the same name, Frank Turner releases the title track 'Poetry of the Deed'. It is more of the high standard folk-punk rock that we have come a customed from Turner in recent years. As always Turner's passionate voice strikes a chord that is instant and favourable. Add to a neat performance by Turner's backing band and you're left with a great song from one of the best British singer-songwriters right now.

4/5

Pegasus Bridge- Yoko/Paris (Double A-Side)
Released on December 7th on LAB Records

The latest signee's from the consistent LAB Records, Pegasus Bridge show variation with this double A-side debut release. 'Yoko' is a upbeat, quirky number with a tight rhythem section and a simple melody. Whilst 'Paris' sees the Manchunian band showing off their softer side. A slow, calm ballad with an intense, passionate build up that shows off the bands songwriting skills well, and perhaps even more importantly their ability to be a little diverse.

Definitely a band worth keeping an eye out for in 2010.
