Album Review: Kaki King - Junior

A new decade is upon us, and there is no better way to get it started than with a musical gem such as this.

Kaki King is back with her fifth studio recording, ‘Junior,’ and it’s everything you want from an album: catchy melodies, fantastic vocals and of course, King’s incredible musicianship.

Stand out tracks are, ‘Sunnyside’, lyrically and vocally packed with backing piano; ‘My Nerves Commited Suicide’, which speaks for itself instrumentally and, personal favorite, ‘The Betrayer’, an interpretation of author, Ben McIntyre’s book, ‘Agent Zig Zag’.

‘Junior’ is, without a doubt, King’s best work to date and, if this is any indication of how 2010 is going to be for music, we are definitely off to a great start.

4.5/5

'Junior' is out now on Cooking Vinyl in UK/Europe.
