Album Review: Evarose - Creation Divide

Unfortunately for Evarose, their brand of pop-rock is instantly going to be described as Hayley Williams fronting You Me At Six, which is probably something that is not that hard to do. I'll admit 'Creatiion Divide' ticks all the right boxes for being a catchy, upbeat pop-rock EP, and although the all-female Oxford quartet show the ability to deliver infectious hooks on tracks like 'We Can Pretend Anyway'.

Whilst 'Today Is A Minute Too Long' highlights the bands good use vocal harmonies but the following 'Flatline' sounds like a Paramore B-side (sorry girls.) 'Kissing Teeth' and 'Glass' finish off the EP on a acceptable level, as the band take a slightly more rockier route that brings some attitude the bands sound.

Nonetheless Evarose do have some originality, in particular the guitar and drum work from Imogen Leslie and Robyn Griffith is pulled off respectively, but this is blurred over by the flaw of easily being compared to several other bands in the genre and it dosen't help when one of the biggest bands at the moment is a female-fronted pop-rock band. However this isn't Evarose's fault and given a chance they could fulfil the slight hint of potential shown here.

2.5/5
