Album Review: Farewell Fighter - The Way We Learn

Farewell Fighter is a 4 piece indie/pop band from Nashville, Tennessee. Their debut EP 'The Way We Learn' is a catchy, hook laden affair that is sure to get fans of indie pop excited. While it may not completely measure up to some of its more prolific peers, it definitely is a solid effort from the band.

'The Way We Learn' is built upon brilliant choruses that will keep listeners singing long after the track ends. Opener ‘Well Wishing’ caught this listener by surprise by the sole electric guitar and vocal combo for the opening moments of the track. It’s a very smartly written opening track that introduces listeners to the band and prepares listeners for the next track simultaneously.

‘Well Wishing’ is followed by ‘Growing Pains’, a great track that packs some serious intensity, great vocals and a lead guitar line that will stick with you. Other highlights include the bouncy ‘Love, Lust or Losing It’ and ‘Where I Belong’.

The only issue this listener found was in ‘Never Have I Ever’. In an EP full of so many great tracks, how did this one make the cut? It’s not horrible, but it’s not as impressive lyrically as any of the others. This listener would have liked to see a little more depth.

Fans of Indie pop need to check out Farewell Fighter. They’re a fun, positive band that will keep you coming back for more. There’s a lot of quality material on 'The Way We Learn', and this listener is looking forward to hearing more from the band in the future.
