January 18th, 2012 (Village Deli - Augusta, GA)

If you follow me on Twitter or if you're a friend of mine on Facebook then you probably know that my favorite restaurant is Village Deli! Village Deli is a local restaurant in my hometown of Augusta, GA. It's located in Daniel Village shopping center across the street from Daniel Field airport.

I cant remember exactly how long ago I ate at Village Deli for the first time but it's been a couple of years. I love everything about this place. The food is awesome, the atmosphere is great, and the staff is friendly. On their menu it says "Village Deli Sub & Pub". They have a wide variety of subs, sandwiches, "munchies", burgers, hotdogs, a full bar, etc! There is so much to choose from and having had a little bit of everything on the menu I can tell you it's all good.

I do happen to have my favorites off of the menu. In fact, Village Deli has my most favorite thing to eat ever... Gooey Fries!!

Gooey Fries consist of Village Deli's "wedge cut fries" and are smothered with chili and melted cheese. It's served with a side of sour cream. I always ask for no sour cream and I get a side of their bleu cheese instead. I always order my Gooey Fries to start or as an appetizer if you will.

These fries are so good! The best part about these fries is how "gooey" they really are thanks to the loads of chili and cheese that they pile on top. The melted cheese is very plentiful and seems to melt right into the meat and bean chili that goes on top of the thick wedge-cut fries. Their bleu cheese goes great with these fries. The bleu cheese is home made and has a lot of bleu cheese crumbles in it (which is a plus for me because I love bleu cheese!). Make sure to get a good scoop of potato wedges, chili, cheese, and then pour some of the bleu cheese on top and you will be in "Gooey Heaven"!

Now let's discuss what I ordered for my "main course" (although the Gooey Fries could be a meal by themselves, haha).

I was craving a good burger so I went with one of their burgers and let me tell you...Village Deli has one of the best burgers I've ever had!

Village Deli gets their meat daily from a local butcher in town called "Dougs Meat Shop". All burgers are 1/2lb and are served on a sesame seed bun with mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomato, and onion.

They have a nice selection of burgers that you can order. They have the basic burger all the way down to a Bleu Cheese burger. While I like all of the burgers they offer I went with my favorite one, The Pimiento Cheese Burger!

This burger is topped with their home made pimiento cheese and crumbled bacon. I opted for no tomato, no mayo and I added pickles and ketchup. Holy crap is this burger Amazing! The meat is so fresh that your teeth literally sink into the burger. The lettuce, onion, and pickles are also nice and fresh and they add a very nice texture to the burger. The Pimiento cheese has a creamier taste to it and really sets this burger off! Right when you bite into it your mouth will be in love.

Everything about this burger is incredible but the real stars are the meat and homemade pimiento cheese (as they should be).

You can visit Village Deli online and check out their menu. Go to:

If you're ever in Augusta, GA do not miss this restaurant! In my opinion it's the best in the world. Be sure to order the Gooey Fries and the Pimiento Cheeseburger when you're there!
