April 11th, 2012 - Cracker Barrel

You probably see me post about the restaurant "Cracker Barrel" all the time on my Twitter and Instgram. They specialize in "Country Cookin'". They even have a country store as part of their place of business. When you first walk in you walk into the country store and you can check out all kinds of items from candy, to toys, to knick-knacks, and everything in between. If you know me then you know what the true star of this place is... It's the food!

Cracker Barrel has two menus. A lunch & dinner menu and a breakfast menu (breakfast is served all day). I've had a lot of different things off of both menus and I can tell you the food is all good! The dinner menu offers a wide range of country meals such as chicken and dumplings, country fried steak or chicken, meatloaf, chicken tenders, fish, sandwiches, salads, etc. they also have a wide range of sides/vegetables to choose from to go with your meal. The breakfast menu is also living' large with meals consisting of eggs, country ham, grits, etc.

One of my favorite meals is one of their "daily specials" that they have. It's called "Broccoli Cheddar Chicken" and you can only get it on Wednesdays. I love it!

Before we get into the Broccoli Cheddar Chicken lets start off with the biscuits! Biscuits and cornbread muffins come with every meal but my family and I always start off with a plate of all biscuits. These things are so good!

We order strawberry jelly and butter with our biscuits and they are off the chain! The biscuits are one of my Favorite things about Cracker Barrel.

Now let's move onto the main course; Broccoli Cheddar Chicken!

The Broccoli Cheddar Chicken is an oven roasted chicken breast baked in a cheese sauce with broccoli and then topped with a Ritz cracker crust! The description alone is enough to have my mouth watering but the taste is something that you really need to experience! The chicken is very moist, the cheese is very "cheesy", the Broccoli's add a nice touch and the Ritz cracker topping REALLY sets it off! I love this dish and I pretty sure you will too.

With the daily special you get a choice of two vegetables. I chose the corn and carrots. You can't really get corn wrong so of course the corn is good. The carrots however are really good! They have a sweetness about them. They are one of my favorite sides to order and I almost always order the carrots as one of my sides with my dinner there. Yum!

If you have a Cracker Barrel near you or if you see one while you're traveling, stop in for a very good meal. If it's on a Wednesday be sure to order the Broccoli Cheddar Chicken. I promise you'll love it! Also, be sure to order the biscuits before your meal as an excellent appetizer. If you happen to stop in on another day you can't go wrong with whatever you choose. It's all good!
