February 21st, 2013 - Augsburg Haus

My Step-Dad took me to one of his favorite places to eat here in town called the Augsburg Haus over the weekend. The Augsburg Haus is a German Restaurant that specializes in German Cuisine. Having been to Germany on three tours, I was very stoked to try this place out and see how it measures up to the German food I've eaten over seas.

The owner and head chef is German and lived there for 27 years before relocating here in America. Once I heard that, I knew I was in for a treat!

We started off with their cucumber salad. It's fresh sliced cucumbers covered in a dill sauce dressing. Boy was this a tasty treat!

For my entree I went with the "Augsburg Speacial" off of the menu. It's "Breaded and Pan fried Pork covered with swiss cheese and sauerkraut served with mashed potatoes and gravy". I opted for no gravy on my mashed potatoes (I like them like that sometimes).

Man was this awesome!! I couldn't stop eating it. The pork was fried perfectly and it was huge! The mashed potatoes were super creamy and big in serving size too. I would take a scoop of the potatoes and a bite of the swiss cheese and sauerkraut covered pork and eat it that way. It was so delicious. My step-dad let me try a bite of what he ordered. His pork was covered in some sort of sauce that was outstanding! The owner told me the name of it, but I can't recall the name at the moment.

I had to order a side of it to dip my pork and potatoes in it. That's how awesome that sauce was, haha. I pretty much covered my entire pork and potatoes in this sauce and before I knew it, my plate was slap clean!

Everything was awesome. The food was fresh and you can definitely tell that it was prepared with care and German pride. I would most definitely be returning to the Augsburg Haus very soon. The place, the food, and the people were all great!
