April 18th, 2013 - Skyline Chili (Columbus, OH)

Skyline Chili has been featured all over the Travel Channel and Food Network for having a unique and famous chili. When I was given the chance to eat a Skyline while on tour with my band in Columbus, OH (Skyline is Cincinnati based but has branched out offering their famous chili at a bunch of neighboring locations) I was stoked!

We walked in, sat down and they brought out a bowl of oyster crackers to start. I figured the oyster crackers are for you to use on or in your chili once you get it, but I was hungry so I started snacking on mine.

On the table sits their famous hot sauce.

I dove right into this stuff and started out by putting it on my crackers. The hot sauce ruled! (so much so that I bought a bottle to take home). I was stoked to put it on my chili once it came out.

While looking over the menu, I noticed an insert on the table. It was April 1st and that meant it was free coney day!!

I went for the famous 5-way chili spaghetti. A 5-way means it's the spaghetti and chili, plus beans, onions, cheese! And of course I made sure to order my free coney for a side item.

One of my favorite things about Skyline Chili is that they don't skimp on the cheese. If you know me then you know how much I lovvvvvvve cheese. They straight hooked it up here too!

I've never eaten chili on spaghetti. The thought of it seems natural though. I wasnt like "ooo weird". I was thinking to myself, "why havent I ever thought of that?". It was a great combination indeed. I really enjoyed it. Their chili definitely has a unique taste. I really cant think of the words to describe it. It's something that you'll have to try and see. Very good!

While the chili spaghetti was very enjoyable, I gotta give it up to the coney! It was friggin' amazing! It was loaded down with cheese, chili, and some mustard. The flavor was so good! The hot dog snapped like a good hotdog should, and the chili, cheese, and mustard topped this thing off right. I will def make sure to order more coneys next time because they were awesome!
