Lorde's "Royals" Banned in San Francisco for World Series

Lorde's hit single "Royals" has been banned by San Francisco local radio stations as the Giants head into the World Series against the Kansas City Royals.

Stations KFOG and KOIT have both announced they will not play the song for the duration of the 2014 World Series, which starts Tuesday and will last about a week.

"Why send any positive vibes to Kansas City?" KFOG's program director Jim Richards told NBC Bay Area. "Why not give the song a rest? No one is going to get hurt over it."

Richards said the powers that be decided to remove the song from KFOG's rotation "as the [Giants] players were chugging beers" Thursday night, following their win against the St. Louis Cardinals to win the Major League Baseball National League pennant.
