Letlive To Headline Rock Sound DC Secret Session

Letlive will headline the Rock Sound DC Secret Session show, which takes place on Monday February 28 at the Old Blue Last in London (doors at 8pm).

Tickets are £3 and includes support from The James Cleaver Quintet and Hearts Under Fire.

Interview: Hearts Under Fire

With four releases and countless tour dates under their belts, you would be forgiven for thinking Hearts Under Fire were old timers on the UK scene. The 4-piece found time to speak to ATP about line-up changes, recording new EP 'Letters' with Outcry Collective's Sam Burden, worries about their change in sound and more.

Alter The Press: For anyone who's new to you, how would you describe your sound?
Hearts Under Fire: We’ve been deliberating on the best way to answer this question & we’ve decided that the best way to describe our sound is to mix the new wave of pop punk/rock (You Me At Six, The Audition) with the darker punk rock (Alkaline Trio, AFI), throw in some DIY punk rock, gang vocals, lots of energy & a huge amount of passion & there you have it – the Hearts Under Fire ingredients.

ATP: You recently released your EP 'Letters', how has the reception been so far?
HUF: Amazing! We’re so happy to have had such an awesome response. We were slightly worried that fans would be put off by the change of direction and sound but we’ve had a hugely positive response & we’re so grateful that our fans have stayed with us, as well as gaining new ones.

ATP: If you had the chance, would you change anything about the record?
HUF: We wouldn’t change anything, we’d just liked to have recorded more songs, but unfortunately we didn’t have the funds.

Album Review: Hearts Under Fire - Letters EP

All-female punk group Hearts Under Fire return with 'Letters' and it's more of the same impressive punk rock that they have established despite a few line-up changes. 'Liquid Luck' quickly shows they are enable to get the right balance of fierce guitars and melodic vocals, although it sounds pretty average.

'It's Not Me, It's You' is lively and shows a bit of variation and their use of harmonies in the chorus especially show this and are favourable. Whilst 'Light My Way' manage to keep up the momentum, as they stay to their musical beliefs and become something they are not. 'Animals' may seem pretty forgettable but it keeps the EP's tempo and shows off the bands skill in a good light.

On face value you think Hearts Under Fire are just four Hayley Williams wannabes but theyu're anything but that, as they have the musicianship and songs to go far. 'Letters' could be the first step towards better things.

Album Review: Hearts Under Fire - Demo 2009

The all-female Surrey-based 5-piece, Hearts Under Fire return after a break and extra member. Previously they had played shows along side the likes of You me At Six and Get Cape Wear Cape Fly. However the girls go down a different road to them with these demos.

These 2 songs here are full of energy and talent, along with punk rock edge that makes for a good healthy combination. 'Chapter One' chuggs along at nice pace, mixing punk rock guitars with melodic vocals from Sian Sanderson. Whilst 'No Love No Light' is a fast-paced upbeat number, that keeps up the momentum.
