Album Review: March Of The Raptors - March Of The Raptors

I think it could be pretty fair to label March Of The Raptors as a “super group” of sorts. Featuring past and present members of Adequate Seven, Devil Sold His Soul and *shels amongst others, their self-titled mini album is an absolute triumph, 25.2 minutes of riffs, speed and general brilliance.

First song ‘Perish In Flames’ probably bears the burden of being my least favourite song, don’t get me wrong, it’s good, but when put before the blistering ‘Grace Of God’ and the technically outstanding ‘All Hell Breaks Loose’ it pales in comparison. I do like the interchanging vocals switching between aggressive and melodical, especially in ‘All Hell Breaks Loose.’

It’s really hard to make any sort of criticism of something that is so inherently great, to put it simply, there’s nothing I don’t like on this album, ‘Crestfallen’ again is huge, and dying to be played as loud as possible, and while ‘After The Fallen’ doesn’t quite live up to it, it’s still a good song.

Special mention for me though has to go to the closing song, ‘Unto Themselves’ an absolute beast of a song, it reaches a climax so loud, so atmospheric and so incredible that you’re left initially completely stunned at what you’ve just heard, it’s epic, the gang vocals at the end send a shiver down the spine, it’s something special, one of the best songs, for me at least so far this year.

March Of The Raptors have issued something fantastic here. Any fan of this genre will lap this up and beg for more. This band has a lot of potential to get somewhere huge and this mini album will only serve to get them there.

4.5/5
