Alter The Press! Presents: Atlas & I

With the recent release of 'In Desolate Times', Norwich six-piece Atlas & I have gone from strength to strength with their brand of atmospheric alt-rock, that sees the band producing emotionally driven post-hardcore, but blending it with somewhat airy approach which sees the band being compared to Saosin and Circa Survive.

Nevertheless Atlas & I make an instant and lasting impression with tracks 'I Guess I'll Just Keep Saving Myself', with their thriving energy and intricate musicianship. Having just played shows with Deaf Havana and a tour planned with Paige, Atlas & I are one to watch out for.

For Fans of: Circa Survive, Saosin and Flood of Red.

Alter The Press: Why should Alter The Press! readers check you out?
Atlas & I: Alter The Press! readers should check us out if they enjoy bands who always put a huge amount of raw passion and energy into their live performance. Come along to a show on our November tour and we promise you won't be disappointed!! Plus we're nice guys too and love to make new friend

ATP: What's the story behind the band?
Atlas & I: Atlas&i formed around 14 months ago after the the disbanding of Robbie and Jarrods former band. They wanted to take a different direction to their previous sound, going for a much more epic and mature feel, so before long Josh was inroduced on keys which really added that somewhat atomospheric approach we were looking for. After a few original member changes due to commitments in other bands the final line up was completed with the addition of myself (Matt), Christian and Ben.

ATP: Single highlight as a band so far?
Atlas & I: We recently did a stint touring Scotland with our good friends Deaf Havana. The shows were packed out and it was incredible being so far away from home and getting such a great reception and seeing kids singing along to every song. Along with that, seeing our debut in stores across the country has been a recent highlight considering the short time we have actually been a band for. The pace is definitely picking up and we're loving every minute!

ATP: What are your plans for the 12 months?
Atlas & I: Tour, tour, TOUR! We've got a full UK tour throughout November from the 11th - 26th in support of our debut mini album 'In Desolate Times' which was released at the end of last month. We love being on the road and would pretty much like to remain there for the majority of next year and include some European and overseas territories. Other than that, we are already writing new material and will carry on doing so between tours in the hope that we will have a full length release towards the back end of 2011.

'In Desolate Times' by Atlas & I is available now on Small Town Records.
