Alter The Press: Why should Alter The Press! readers check you out?
Lady Danville: Michael has real nice bone structure. Matt is a trained contemporary belly dancer. Dan can do a pushup with no hands. With our powers combined, we sing songs in three part harmony and blend them real nice to make music leaving people feeling grand.

Alter The Press! Presents: This Love

Since coming together in early 2010, Dayton, Ohio's This Love have shared the stage with the likes of the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Let’s Get It, Cute is What We Aim For, and The Bigger Lights. Now in 2011 the quartet are set to release their debut full-length, 'At War' on August 2nd.

Despite their young age, This Love have an ambitious yet accessible sound; mixing the stadium sized rock of U2 and 30 Seconds To Mars, and mixing it with the pop sensibilities of Red Jumpsuit Apparatus and Boys Like Girls. Tracks like 'Motions' are cinematic and well-crafted, showing a band that are hungry and capable of producing favorable songs.

For Fans Of: U2, Kings of Leon, and 30 Seconds To Mars

Alter The Press: Why should Alter The Press! readers check you out?
This Love: Y'all should check the new album! It's a fresh sound from us, a young band, This Love. We have been working hard to get our music to the people for awhile now! bringing change to the game, hooks, guitar solos and a great message that needs to be heard! We, as a band, are so excited to get a chance to play music that is heard by the people. We are so thankful that we get a chance to do this everyday!

Alter The Press! Presents: Violet

Hailing from Derby in the East Midlands, Violet are a Alternative/Post-Hardcore septet that are currently gathering momentum throughout the UK.

With comparisons to US bands such as Emarosa, Isles and Glaciers, and Chiodos, their latest single, 'Perspectives' sensibly blends stagnant guitars, intense drums and screamo vocals with a favorable melodic tone, courtesy of clean vocalist Jonny Nelson. Ultimately it proves to be a winning combination, and is on par with the aforementioned transatlantic bands.

It's no doubt that Violet's somewhat unique sound will continue to gain attention, as they will be playing shows throughout UK this summer, touring with Hey! Alaska in September, and a new EP later in the year.

For Fans Of: Emarosa, Isles and Glaciers, and A Skylit Drive.

Alter The Press: Why should Alter The Press! readers check you out?
Violet: We believe that we have a pretty unique sound in comparison to what a lot of UK bands are doing right now. We put 100% of ourselves into every song we write and every show we play and we feel that people can connect easily with our music. We love what we do, there’s seven of us, you should definitely check us out.

Alter The Press! Presents: Escape Directors

Originally starting as a backing band for singer-songwriter Steve Carter. He quickly connected with Nick Wilson (piano/guitars), drummer Colin Rieser and bassist Brendon Bigley and eventually led to the quartet forming Escape Directors; a New Jersey indie rock band.

Their latest EP, 'The Crowded Room' is a well-crafted collection of warming harmonies and saw the band work with producer Jim Wirt (Incubus, Jack's Mannequin). From the calm yet pleasing tone of 'The War Outside' to the inspirational sound of 'The Distant Past', Escape Directors provide a sensible and sincere sound that will interest Death Cab For Cutie and Coldplay fans.

On the whole, Escape Directors bring a mature and honest approach to the indie rock genre that is finely-tuned and uplifting.

For Fans Of: Coldplay, Death Cab For Cutie, and Radiohead.

Alter The Press: Why should Alter The Press! readers check you out?
Escape Directors: We get lots of recognition for having indie-influenced music that still caters to the mainstream radio-lovers. The honesty of the songs make it easy for fans to connect to the music. We find ourselves in between a lot of styles that leave us accessible to a variety of music tasters.

Alter The Press! Presents: The Electric Modern

London's The Electric Modern formed in 2008 and have since been fine tuning their brand of atmospheric indie rock that is bound to win fans of The Killers, Jimmy Eat World and Bloc Party over. Tracks like 'Let's Get Away' are adrenaline-filled, catchy and well-structured. Whereas 'Time To Reflect' and 'Making Conversation' thrive on intricate guitar melodies.

Earlier this year the quartet joined up with The Animal Farm, which led to the band recording new material, as well as forming a partnership with Jack&Jones clothing. The coming months will see the band playing shows throughout the UK, releasing new material and more.

With such a tight and uplifting sound, The Electric Modern are destined for bigger things.

For Fans Of: The Killers, Bloc Party, Jimmy Eat World, Editors, and White Lies.

Alter The Press: Why should Alter The Press! readers check you out?
The Electric Modern: We are a British band based in London, we have a real passion for the music we write and feel the massive new sound we have needs to be heard by many. Our music is a "catchy, upbeat, dancey" form of Rock, so hopefully that will appeal to many of you!

We have an interesting mix of sound; its very melodic, and we love our harmonies, driven bass line and punchy drums. If I had to describe a mix of some artists I would say: The Killers, Bloc Party, White Lies, The Naked and Famous, and Jimmy Eat World that might get you somewhere near our sound. It's the kind of music that, years down the line will take you back to the time you first heard it with fond memories! We try our best to play gig's where ever possible, and love to be involved with our fans, we make video's and try to keep our gigs exciting and fresh. We hope you like it!

Alter The Press! Presents: The Jealous Sea

Having played shows alongside The Maine, Valencia, Stereo Skyline, He Is We and several others, Boston, Massachusetts' The Jealous Sea are quickly making their mark in the US pop rock scene.

In addition to appearing on various radio shows and websites, the quartet recorded their new EP, 'Everything & Anything' with producer John Naclerio (My Chemical Romance, Brand New). The resulting EP is a collection of energetic pop-rock songs that will please fans of Boys Like Girls and Mayday Parade. Tracks like 'Rollercoaster' are slick and stand up strong against similar bands.

Alter The Press! Presents: The Lonely Forest

A promising successor to their influences, The Lonely Forest combine a pop-aesthetic on top of an indie rock backdrop. Aided by Chris Walla (of Death Cab for Cutie fame) who made the band the first signing to his new label, Trans Records. Their debut record 'Arrows' as a whole blends morose melodies and is completely counteracted with cheerful hooks that reak of optimism.

Comparisons to bands that range from Jimmy Eat World to 90's troubadours Nirvana may inquisitively turn heads at first but from listening, each of them is understandable. Having recently just come off of a tour of the USA with their main influences, Death Cab for Cutie, the band plans to hit the road with Two Door Cinema Club later this year.

Alter The Press! Presents: Notimefor

Alter The Press: Why should Alter The Press! readers check you out?

Alter The Press: Why should Alter The Press! readers check you out?

If you're on Facebook you can keep up to date with how it's sounding.

Alter The Press! Presents: Helter Skelter

Having spending his time writing the forthcoming record from Manchester Alternative/Ambient group IONA (formerly known as Early and Bright-Out), vocalist/guitarist Rob Scrannage recently decided to form a solo side-project under the name of Helter Skelter.

Classing his influences from Hexes to Trophy Scars to the likes of Ellie Goulding and Luke Pickett, Helter Skelter is still developing but as 'Even Angels Carry Swithblades' shows, Scrannage has neatly produced a light, melodic number that subtly shows depth and plenty of potential.

Whilst IONA is still a priority for Scrannage, Helter Skelter has the potential to sweetly grow, even to something more than a side-project.

For Fans Of: Civil Twilight, Luke Pickett, and Ellie Goulding.

Alter The Press: Why should Alter The Press! readers check you out?
Helter Skelter: You should check me out because I deliver a fresh spin on acoustic and ambient music. Blending elements of Pop, soul and electronica to hopefully create an overwhelming, somewhat claustraphobic atmosphere in my music. I aim to achieve a balance of rich textured backdrop with haunting vocal melodies layered on top.

ATP: What's the story behind Helter Skelter?
Helter Skelter: My current full-time band (IONA) are writing and recording our debut EP. Whilst tracking that record, I thought it would be good to do a few stripped down acoustic songs for myself when I wasn't needed in the studio. I decided to record a few demo's at home before I realized the potential it had. As of now its consuming as much of my time and writing as my band is. I hope to release a full EP/mini album by the summer. The music my band makes is a louder and harder version of what I'm doing, encompassing elements of the aforementioned qualities aswell as expressing the same message.

Alter The Press! Presents: United Fruit

Formed in Glasgow, Scotland in 2008 United Fruit have been making a name for themselves locally with their brand of distorted brand of alt-rock that has seen the quartet be compared to the likes of ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead and These Arms Are Snakes.

Their latest release, 'Fault Lines' is a combination of noisy, riff-heavy numbers mixed with a melodic and poppy approach that has led the band to play shows alongside Maps & Atlases, Die! Die! Die!, and Future Of The Left.

For Fans Of: Trail of Dead, Sonic Youth, These Arms Are Snakes, Fugazi, and Hot Snakes.

In addition the band have played shows alongside Attack Attack (UK), Flood of Red and Max Raptor, establishing their name and furthermore becoming one of the most promising UK bands right now.

For Fans Of: Thrice, Oceansize, Mogwai, Radiohead, Deftones, and Tool.

Alter The Press: Why should Alter The Press! readers check you out?
Flights: Well, we're definitely trying to do something a little bit interesting and different. With our debut EP, we like to think we've written music that takes the listener on a bit of a journey, and have created a diverse sound which will reward the listener on repeated plays. All our favourite bands have unique and instantly identifiable sounds and all we've ever really wanted to do is make music that is varied and interesting to play and listen to, but is also cohesive and clearly recognisable as us!

The North East England group's latest EP, 'Reflection or Denial' is a collection of neatly crafted, melodic rock that draws comparisons to 30 Seconds To Mars (see 'Belladonna'), Incubus and Young Guns. Scott Michael Cavagan's vocals blend in well with the bands tight, metallic riffs that brings a heavy yet sensible side to the bands sound.

For Fans Of: Young Guns, Dredg, 30 Seconds to Mars, Incubus, Alexisonfire, and Glassjaw.

Interview with Ollie Rillands (Drummer)

Alter The Press: Why should Alter The Press! readers check you out?
Laconia: I think that we offer something different to what a lot of bands are doing these days, were not focussing on trying to fit into any scene or genre or jumping on any bandwagons, were just focussing on writting the biggest and catchiest songs we can. Were hopefully doing something that will stand out and that people will like and remember. Plus were all devilishly handsome.

Alter The Press! Presents: Picture Atlantic

Since forming five years ago, San Francisco Bay Area progressive rock band, Picture Atlantic has taken the west coast by storm, releasing three EPs and a full length album, playing hundreds of shows, and opening for the likes of Biffy Clyro, The Higher, Daphne Loves Derby and even Coldplay.

With a mix of light guitar pop (see 'Joust') and fiery indie rock, the trio have been compared to bands such as Death Cab For Cutie. Whilst their slight experimental touch gives the band even more potential to grow and expand.

For Fans Of: Radiohead, Death Cab For Cutie, Interpol, and The Strokes.

Alter The Press: Why should Alter The Press! readers check you out?
Picture Atlantic: Bottom line is that we have immense passion for what we do. Looking around and seeing modern music where it is, is a real heartbreaker for us. Bands don't seem to stand for anything anymore, and the things they do stand behind are pretty transient. We don't do this band to appease other people. We don't do this band to fit into some trend. We don't do this band to jump on a bandwagon. We care about our music with complete heart and soul, and if that isn't enough for people, then god help us.

Alter The Press! Presents: Sheridan

Denver, Colorado's Sheridan are bounded by their strong Christian values and a passion for music. Having shared the stage with the likes of The Classic Crime, Such Gold, and Oceana, the five-piece's latest EP, 'Of Which We Fall' is a strong mix of progressive alternative rock and post-hardcore with their influences of Underoath, Haste The Day and For Today being evident throughout.

On top of that their positive religious message shines throughout, leading to the band producing a radiant energy in their music and is admirable. Overall Sheridan are well-rounded and have the potential to make a name for themselves.

For Fans Of: Underoath, Haste The Day, and For Today.

Alter The Press: Why should Alter The Press! readers check you out?
Sheridan: Because we love what we do, we pour everything into making this music and worshipping. We are trying to bring something new to the music scene, something that is extremely passionate and intense. Also meeting people, making awesome relationships and fellowshipping are our primary goals as band.

Alter The Press! Presents: Cease.Fire.Riot

Wirral's Cease.Fire.Riot bring a bold rock sound with a subtle experimental twist, with their influences of Foo Fighters, Biffy Clyro and Thrice being most notable.

Their debut EP briefly showcases the bands brash, melodic style with tracks like 'Alive' and 'I'll Wait' bringing a combination of hard rock, sensible rhythms and overall well-paced songs that have urgency, potential and an honest approach.

For Fans Of: Biffy Clyro, Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Thrice and The Sleeping.

Alter The Press: Why should Alter The Press! readers check you out?
Cease.Fire.Riot: Because we feel we bring something new and interesting forward. After all of us playing for years, we finally feel we have come together and created the sound we've always wanted. Heavy guitar, with real melodies. We want to create an enthralling live show whilst keeping the music loud and accessible. We play any show and are just up for smashing any gig opportunity thrown at us. With delicately arranged set lists, we can bring a crowd up and down before going crazy at the end! Our priotity is beautiful music that we love. We've all seen and been in bands that say "what would sell best?" We have grown tired of that and now we strive to make the music we want. It is an amazing bi-product that people love it, but we had to start this project for us!
