Alter The Press! Presents: Undercolour

Having met at college in Manchester in 2007, it wasn't until three years later that pop-rock five-piece Undercolour would take shape in the bands new home of Bristol. Whilst the band is still in its infant stages with just a handful of shows, tracks like 'Hold Me Down' and 'Famous Scenes and Drama Queens' show plenty of promise, as they have sensibly adapted an Americanized sound and confidently made it their own.

With Steff Galasso's booming, proud voice being backed up by the bands strong rock spine, Undercolour are worth keeping an eye on over the coming months. With shows lined up alongside the likes of Blitz Kids, Undercolour's confidence and reputation will continue to grow.

For Fans Of: Circa Survive, Versaemerge, Proceed and Paramore.

Alter The Press: Why should Alter The Press! readers check you out?
Undercolour: ATP! Readers should check us out if they want to hear some good honest pop-punk rock. We’ve got Steff singing her heart out up-front and us boys bringing the noise from the back.

ATP: What's the story behind the band?
Undercolour: Like all good bands should, we initially came together through a sheer mutual love of music. Originally we met and jammed whilst studying Music Performance and Technology in Manchester in 2007. Fast forward to March 2010 – we are all now studying Music Performance at University; it became apparent (fuelled no doubt by meeting new people) that us original five could really harness what we had and maybe even make a name for ourselves. We are now split between Manchester and Bristol, and doing what we can to get those elusive first gigs under our belts.

ATP: Single highlight as a band so far?
Undercolour: We very recently supported Maycomb and I Call Fives which went down really well. We picked up some awesome new friends and ultimately it was cool to see how the Americans do things. We will soon however be sharing the stage with Blitz Kids so our current #1 may well be trumped soon.

ATP: What are your plans for the 12 months?
Undercolour: Right now we are working on getting into the studio and sorting out our debut release, however, we are hoping to get out on the road as soon as possible and play to as many people as we possibly can. We are determined to do this right – we want to visit towns, play shows, make friends and make 2011 the year of Undercolour! We have a lot to prove and we know that we can do it.

Undercolour will be supporting Blitz Kids at Sound Control in Manchester on November 29th.
