Alter The Press! Presents: Aliases

In the space of 8 months, Aliases have played alongside Monuments, Chimp Spanner and others at a German festival (Euroblast), as well as with Heights and signed with Basick Records.

With former Sikth guitarist Pin, the bands progressive metal sound is bound to please fans of the latter group, whilst at the same time look to push their boundaries as well as of that of the genre. The Manchester-based group will release their début EP early next year.

For Fans Of: Sikth, Monuments and Protest The Hero.

Alter The Press: Why should Alter The Press! readers check you out?
Aliases: We are a 5 person monolith of awesome technical metal, we aren't afraid of going to extremes with our sound or creating our own musical paths. You should check us out as we have a member of SikTh, a French man, a ginger, a girl and the alien in a man from Men In Black. If you can't imagine all of them things working together in the slightest, then you need to check us out, as strangely in our own messed up way, it works epically well.

ATP: What's the story behind the band?
Aliases: In some unfitting way we all bumped into each other, it was a series of unfortunate events that we will possibly regret in some time but as it stands we've decided to roll with it and create some mentally challenging waves of sound.

After the split of SikTh, I went on a mission to find some killer new musicians to write with. It was hard work, however it ended up that I was writing some kick ass guitar parts with Leah. We then moved forward and found the rest of the band, consisting of complete lunatics Darren, Joe and finally Jay in Paris. We can't say it's geographically ideal, however he is the man for the job, he fits in with the rest of us and adds another accent to the collection!

After starting the band early 2010, we had a full line up in April, first gig in October and signed with Basick Records in November. It's been busy and can only get better from here out.

ATP: Single highlight as a band so far?
Aliases: Playing our first show internationally in Germany at Euroblast festival alongside our good friends in Monuments and Chimp Spanner. The journey didn't go entirely to plan as our van fell through the day before we were scheduled to depart from Manchester, leaving us only the option to pull out of the show or travel over in style in a.......Volkswagen Polo! We managed to fit the band (excluding Jay) into the car alongside 4 guitars, 2 basses, snare, pedal, cymbals, sticks, laptop, interface, keyboard, all leads/pedals and finally the entire box of merch! Thank god we grew up in the tetris generation! It was surprisingly fun and nobody died so all in all a great success.

The gig itself was awesome, fantastic vibe from everybody involved and the crowd! Really well organized and drinks on tap backstage!

We managed to drink enough booze to cause some chaos in Cologne with the other bands after the show and our first show as a band, after one full rehearsal went down really well.

We were able then to decide we'd be able to put up with each other to make this work as a band as we're never going to get as close again as 4 people in a polo with all their gear, and we're all equally as sick, twisted and retarded to make our time together incredibly amusing

ATP: What are your plans for the 12 months?
Aliases: We aim to release our debut CD in the first half of 2011, which we can't wait to unleash on you all! Hopefully after melting some ears we can then convince enough people to come out and have their faces melted as well live, as we hit some stages near, far, everywhere, it will be enlightening, sexy and people will be filled with a huge sense of achievement if they make it out alive.

A six-track EP will be released in early 2011 on Basick Records.
