New Chickenhawk Video
Chickenhawk's new video for 'Son of CERN' can be viewed by clicking read more or on Rock Sound's website.Album Review: Chickenhawk - Modern Bodies
With a mix of dirty tharsh punk and mighty metal riffs, Chickenhawk return with 'Modern Bodies' and sees the band developing their sound towards being more structured yet more chaotic, as 'Scorpieau' shows; noisy guitars, thrashing drums and loud vocals. From start to finish the bands adrenaline-filled noise-rock takes over with tracks like 'Son Of Cern' and 'My Name Is Egg' being dominated by the aforementioned riffs. However the band also show their ability to adapt to a (slight) math-rock side, as 'The Pin' and 'Hate This, Do You Like It?' shows but this isn't quite obvious on first listen, as the bands wall of noise proves to be a distraction. Whilst 'Kerosene' is broken in to several pieces, but does not differ from the bands core sound.

Live Review: The Computers, Outcry Collective and Chickenhawk – Clwb Ifor Bach, Cardiff - 25/03/2010
As I walked into Clwb Ifor Bach, something told me that tonight’s gig would be a low key affair. The legendary Cardiff venue was using the downstairs room, a room in which tonight’s openers ChickenHawk were mid way through their set, entertaining around 20 people. It’s a shame because they did sound pretty good, and for the couple of songs I managed to catch, they held my attention well and impressed me enough at least to check out what they had to offer on record when I got home.Main support is Outcry Collective, a band that have gathered quite a bit of momentum recently, having just confirmed a slot on the upcoming Young Guns tour in May it seems as if everything is going well for them, but tonight just isn’t their night. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t as if they were bad, but the crowd just seemed completely uninterested, anything that frontman, Steve Sitkowski said went down like a lead balloon, no matter what he did to try and liven proceedings up, it just didn’t work, and as a result, I think their overall set suffered. That being said they were reasonable enough, stand out track was ‘Saviour Stranger’ I love that song anyway so to see it live was always going to be a success for me.

Chickenhawk Premier New Video
Chickenhawk have premiered the video for 'I hate this, do you like it?' from their new EP, 'A.Or Not?' which is released on Wednesday via Brew Records.Album Review: Chickenhawk - A. Or Not? EP
Leeds band Chikenhawk new EP, the oddly titled 'A. Or Not?' is 3 songs of favourable experimental rock. 'I Hate This, Do You Like It?' starts off with a crazy guitar riff that leads into a fast-paced rock affair. On first listen it doesn't sound anything unoriginal but underneath the bands experimental side comes out, as they combine a metal structure with a progressive side.'Son of Cern' follows suit and shows the bands messy, angry side with drums that hit with full force and guitars that dominate throughout. Add to this a strange yet effective electronic part towards, add to the bands performance and overall impression of the EP.
'NASA vs ESA' has somewhat grungy guitars and on the whole sounds messy but strangely it works. As it progresses the guitars spiral into complete chaos, as Chickenhawk show hint at their hardcore side but keep their experimental side; backing vocals that sound like they're from little girls come out of nowhere.
You have to give it to Chickenhawk for stepping out the box and being, to an extent, being unpredictable. 'A. Or Not? EP' takes a few listens to get use to. The band at first sound all over the place, but after awhile you become familiar with their style of prog-metal. It is structured but keeps hold of it's hectic spine, think Rolo Tomassi but without the soft female parts.
3.5/5
'A. Or Not? EP' by Chickenhawk is released on Brew Records on 9th September.
