Dance Gavin Dance Release Statement Regarding Departure Of Jonny Craig

Dance Gavin Dance have released a statement regarding the departure of singer Jonny Craig. Check out the message below.

"When Jonny rejoined Dgd, we were about to call it quits. Tired of touring and being away from home for 8 months of the year, we wanted to shake things up. We thought it’d be fun to do a dbm sequel with Jonny and go out on that. We recorded dbm2 and felt it would be a disservice to our fans not to let them hear the new record live. We did a tour and felt rejuvenated but Jonny wasn’t in a good place. After trying to convince him into getting help over warped tour, we canceled a headliner in November/December 2011 and told him we wouldn’t tour until he sought out real help for his addiction. We got our good friend Matt Geise to fill in for a short run we did earlier this year while Jonny was in rehab. He was released and wanted to be out on the road immediately. We weren’t sure how things would go so we only booked a small portion of the all stars tour to see if Jonny could still function as our lead singer. After a week and a half things were not going well. Everything came to a head when Jonny was publicly scolded by the owner of sumerian records for multiple offenses. It was then that we realized that our time with Jonny had reached its end. We wish Jonny the best In his future endeavors but he will no longer be a part of DGD. We however will continue playing and writing music because it’s what we love doing."

Jonny Craig Kicked Off All Stars Tour

Jonny Craig has been kicked off The All Stars tour. Dance Gavin Dance will still perform on the remainder of the tour (minus Craig) under the moniker of Secret Band.

Craig is still yet to comment on why he is no longer on the tour but a statement from an attendee at last night's show can be read below.

"Well i was chilling with Suicide Silence. It is basically an accumulation of Artery just being fed up with Jonny Craig. [NAME REMOVED PER REQUEST OF SOURCE] said that when he was stretching, Jonny Craig pulled on his leg awkwardly and that the leg is now shot for who knows how long. This, compounded with the fact that throughout the night Jonny Craig was just acting immature towards fans and other people, led to Dance Gavin Dance being initially kicked off by Artery completely."

Jonny Craig Still In Dance Gavin Dance; Band Release Official Statement

Dance Gavin Dance have released a statement confirming that frontman Jonny Craig is still in the band but won't be joining them on their upcoming tour.

"As some of you have heard today, Jonny Craig will not be doing the upcoming tour with Dance Gavin Dance. Jonny is very sick right now, and needs to do what he can to get better. Being on the road is no place for someone in his position right now. He needs to focus on fixing himself. He has NOT been kicked out of Dance Gavin Dance, but we cannot tour with him in the current state he is in. We still want to continue being productive and playing music that we have so much passion for, which is why we decided to continue with the tour without Jonny. We love Jonny and we hope that Jonny can do what he can to get better, because we have done everything that we can to try to get him clean.

For this upcoming tour with A lot Like Birds, we will be joined by Kurt Travis and Matt Geise to fill in on vocals. We will be doing something that we've never done before, and thats preforming songs from all 4 full-lengths. For the time being, keep your eyes peeled and your ears piqued for new Secret Band music! See you all out on the road and make sure to come up and say hi to us at the merch table!"

Jonny Craig has been kicked out of Dance Gavin Dance, Rise Records has dropped him as a solo act and Matt Geise will be the new singer of Dance Gavin Dance.

Craig is currently in Canada, his ex-manager confirmed a warrant out for Craig’s arrest and "believes he may never return to the United States due to facing jail time."
