Heights have signed to Small Town Records.A blog post from the band can be viewed below:
"We are really pleased to say that we have signed to Small Town Records for the release of our debut album. We feel very honoured to have been able to sign to such a great label at this point in our career and we can’t wait to get working with them on our album which will be released in early 2011. We have already started work on songs for the album and we can’t wait for you guys to hear what we have to offer, we have some big plans for 2011 so keep your eyes peeled!
Before all that though we have loads of shows for you all for the rest of this year. We are spending November on the road with the guys in Flood Of Red and House Vs Hurricane, a small run of our own academy shows and a whole lot more so get involved!
Much love
Heights x"
Atlas&i Sign To Small Town Records,
Atlans&i and have singed to Small Town Records. Their début album is set for a September/October release.Small Town Records Split
Small Town Records have announced that they are to split into 2 parts. One half will focus on the labels' punk-rock and metal bands, whilst the other will concentrate on indie and pop-rock.A full messege from the label can be read below.
"Since its inception some 5 years ago, Small Town has grown up to be a hell of a lot more than what we ever hoped to initially achieve.
Starting out with the sole aim to help Penknifelovelife, we now find ourselves fast approaching our 50th release and have worked with some fantastic bands and people along the way.
However, over the last 6 months we have come to realise an apparent "split" down the middle of the label which divides two of our strongest genres. With this in mind, we have decided to break the label in two, creating two sides, like a vinyl or cassette tape if you will. We now present you with; Side A and Side B.
Side A will work with the punk-rock and metal bands on the roster (Fei Comodo, Failsafe, Shadows Chasing Ghosts and Templeton Pek) whilst Side B will be home the indie and pop-rock (Telegraphs, Cuba Cuba, Klaus, The Muscle Club.)
Whilst both sides will operate a little more independently, all releases will remain under the Small Town Records name.
To introduce the “new labels” both will have new myspace pages and our main website is currently also undergoing a much needed face lift!
If that wasn't enough, in the next few weeks we will be announcing a digital only release titled "5 Years of Small Town Records" to mark our 5th anniversary.
This will contain our hand picked favourite tracks that we have released over the years. A full tracklist will go public in the coming weeks... watch this space.
Thats all for now. Thanks for reading and here’s to the next 5 years.
Pete, Ben and Alex"

Album Review: Lavotchkin/Crocus - Split EP
If you like speedy, hard-hitting hardcore then this split EP from Lavotchkin/Crocus will be right up your ally.Lavotchkin start off the proceedings with 'You Were Dawn', an energetic, fast-paced ruckus that definitely wakes you up. Next the Newcastle-based band show their more structured side with 'Abandon' with its sluggish guitars weaving through in the background over screaming vocals and earch shattering drums. They finish their side of the split with 'Clouds', a track that speeds through at a blistering pace and at the same time, sounds epic.
Falmouth's Crocus are more complex in their approach, 'A Spirtual Polemic' starts off with a simple bass line before easing itself into a complete mess but at the same time it is structured. 'Ignorance We Swallow' shows the bands technical side; one second they're speeding through at a furious pace then suddenly slowing things down momentarily, before once again turning up the volume. 'Fear of Water' finishes off the EP with 1 and 40 seconds of aggressive, adrenaline filled hardcore.
At just 17 minutes long, you are left with wanting to hear more from both bands. The combination of the hard hitting Lavotchkin and the complexness of Crocus, works well and flows with ease together.
