ATP! Album Review: Thrice - Anthology

Orange County rockers Thrice may be going on hiatus, but Dustin Kensrue and his gang of musically malleable misanthropes aren’t going to go out without a fight; and their second live album, taken from their farewell tour is the perfect send off for a band that promises that they’ll be back...just not yet.

To say that Thrice have come a long way from their debut album "Identity Crisis" is a severe understatement; the way that the band both writes and performs has been something they have challenged themselves through experimentation, and although it’s hard to picture ‘Image Of The Invisible’ on that album, the fact that it came from the same band is a testament to the legacy Thrice have created for themselves on modern rock. The evolution of their performance is clear as day in this live album too - it’s rare that such power and passion for music is caught so succinctly on a live album, and yet, from start to finish, it’s obvious that every member of Thrice is giving it their all, putting their heart and soul into every song, every riff, every note. Riley Breckenridge, the band’s drummer, stated about this album that it is "a live record that is truly live", and it’s hard to put it more succinctly than that. The band left the recordings alone and they stand proudly on the back-end of Thrice’s career to this point.

Thrice Announce "Anthology" Live Box Set Release Date

Thrice have announced they will release "Anthology", a new 4-LP/2-CD live set which was recorded at select stops of the band's recent farewell tour on October 30th.

The live recording features 24 songs and will be available digitally, on two CDs, and as a limited edition box set containing four LP’s. The LP box set is limited to just 3000 stamped and numbered pieces and will include a 24-page booklet along with 2 black LP’s and 2 white LP’s all on 180 gram vinyl. The track listing and pre-order details will be announced in the coming weeks.

The Modern Post (Dustin Kensrue of Thrice's new band) have announced they will release their debut EP "Grace Alone" on August 14th. A new song titled "Before The Throne" can be streamed here.

Thrice Will Write Music Together Again

Drummer Riley Breckenridge of Thrice has revealed in a new interview, the band will write music together again.

"It's over for now, and it's not really my choice to end it, but I do understand the reasoning for it and I'm respectful of that. I'm excited to see what comes next for all of us, by no means is it a break up. We still want to do this, we just can't do it right now. We will write music together again, we will play shows together again but right now it's important for us to do other things. It's scary and exciting at the same time."

Hopeless Records To Re-Issue Thrice's "Illusion Of Safety" Album On Vinyl

Hopeless Records have announced they will be re-issuing Thrice's "Illusion Of Safety" album on vinyl.

The limited quantity pressing allows fans to choose between 3 colors; coke bottle clear, white or translucent red and will be pressed on 180 gram vinyl. This deluxe version will also include a download card of the album. The first 500 sold will contain inserts signed by the band! A standard version will also be available in stores and online on June 19th. A portion of the proceeds (equaling 5% of the suggested retail price) earned by the artists and Hopeless/ Sub City Records from the sale of this release will be donated to the non- profit organization A Place Called Home.
