Chris Conley Confirms New Two Tongues Album Is Happening

Chris Conley has confirmed in a new interview that Two Tongues (Max Bemis of Say Anything and Chris Conley of Saves The Day side-project) will release another album.

Max Bemis of Two Tongues (Max Bemis of Say Anything and Chris Conley of Saves The Day side-project) has confirmed they will release another album.

Bemis posted the following message on Twitter:

"@kalieisradical: Hey @maxbemis is there ever gonna be another Two Tongues album?” 100% yes!"

Max Bemis Promises More Two Tongues

Max Bemis has said via his twitter, that more Two Tongues material is expected in the future.

In addition to this, Bemis also mentioned he is working on a new band with his wife, Eisley's Sherri Dupree.

David Soloway Leaves Saves The Day

Saves The Day have parted ways with David Soloway.

Chris Conley said this about Soloway's departure:

"As many of you now know, David Soloway is no longer playing with Saves The Day. Our partnership in Two Tongues remains intact and will continue into the future as we continue to write new music. First and foremost, I am sad that David is gone from the group, and I will feel the pain of our loss forever. When David told me he had decided it was time for him to move on, I understood his feelings and felt immediate communion. I love David first as a friend and second as a musician whom I respect and admire. My first reaction, hearing the news that I would lose my friend and partner in Saves The Day, was to disband the group, as I could not envision playing music onstage without him. After further thought, and following an intimate acoustic tour this past summer with Matt Pryor, I began to realize how much I care about our music and our fans. I realized that I do not want to stop playing this music. These songs and these years filled with irreplaceable memories mean more to me than small words can convey. I feel thanks, awe, and inspiration when I think back over the last twelve years of Saves The Day. I feel so much appreciation for the connection we have made with you, our loving and supportive audience. I feel speechless and astonished when I think of all the talented and gifted musicians I have been fortunate enough to have played with over the years. This is more than a dream come true. This is what makes me get down on my knees and thank the source of Life as we know it. I thank you, as fans, and I thank each and every musician I have had the privilege and pleasure of playing with for all of these wonderful moments and memories. More than anything, I feel the tireless need to keep pressing onwards, to keep growing, keep charging, keep this love here, together, holding on tight, not ready to let go. So, as hard as this moment is, as hard as it is to feel the sadness in my heart losing my best friend beside me onstage, I cannot stop. I must move forwards. I understand and share the pain some of you feel at this loss. I hold it in my heart. It is hard not to cry. Sometimes I do. But I love you. And I love this music. Album Review: Two Tongues - Two Tongues

When details of a Say Anything-Saves The Day ‘super group’ was announced last year, expectations for this record were high. Surely anything with modern great songwriters Max Bemis and Chris Conley can’t disappoint right?

Well thankfully they don’t. From the start this self-titled record bursts into life with ‘Crawl’, a soft guitar leads into Bemis shouting his head off with Conley being brought into calm things down a little. It’s a fast paced track with good structure and blend of each others vocals, which lives up to expectations.

Next ‘If I Could Make You Do Things’ sees a calming guitar with Chris and Max playing off each other well and to an extent they are fighting between one another. This is because one of the running concepts throughout this album is the relationship between 2 people. Some may see it as a romantic relationship, whilst others see it as Max and Chris’s friendship.

The album continues with highlights such as ‘Tremors’ and ‘Silly Game’. Both of which showcase well-paced rhythm and good structure, this at times does sound like both of the bands other work. However this does not diminish the record.

‘Don’t You Want to Come Home’ slows things down momentarily with Conley for the most part taking over vocals until a quick guitar solo briefly intercepts. ‘Wowee Zowee’ speeds things up again and proves to be one of the best songs on the album, as it takes the best parts of Say Anything and Saves The Day and blends them together into this 2 and half minute of alternative rock heaven.

One of the problems of this album was that it is hard for it not to fall into the trap of sounding like the bands each other have come from. Unfortunately it could be considered that this does happen on couple of occasions, with ‘Try Not to Save Me’ sounding very much like a Saves The Day outtake with Conley dominating vocals and its slow beat with light guitar elements, making it sound rather familiar.

Towards the end, the album begins to drag along with ‘Even If You Don’t’ ending the album on a slightly poppy note with a beat that bounces along, with Bemis and Conley once again playing off each other well.

As I said at the start of this review, ‘Two Tongues’ does not disappoint, especially if you are a fan of each others previous work. It has the best elements of both and has been made into a record that has plenty of longevity. It has cleverly written lyrics by both front men, that has been combined with strong instrumentation from all 4 members (lets not forget the band also includes Coby Linder of Say Anything and Dave Soloway of Saves The Day).

The only downfall of the record is that it begins to grow a bit tiresome near the end and when it’s over you feel somewhat relived it’s over. Nevertheless this does not make it one of those awful ‘super group’ records that have been attempted in the past. It truly is a great record from a band with too much talent for there own good.
