Live Review: The Wonder Years, Save Your Breath and Apologies, I Have None - The Peel, Kingston - 20/2/11

It’s fairly rare these days, but every so often a show comes around that has literally everyone attending feeling a kind of excited anticipation, and this a show, the second headline date from The Wonders Years fresh from a run on the Kerrang tour was one of them.

I feel that before I go any further, I need to give a shout out to Banquet Records, not only for putting this show on, but for being a driving force in the Kingston independent music scene, and generally ensuring that music still has a positive impact and a role to play in the community, it’s not often you see a business care so passionately about its trade but Banquet do, and for that they need to be commended.

Album Review: Apologies, I Have None - 7"

Apologies, I Have None are renowned within the music scene as being some of the nicest guys around. They are also building up a reputation for writing some cracking tunes, and their latest relase '7"' is no exception at all.

These songs are the first recorded by the band as a 4 piece and some of their best to date. Kicking off with 'Joiners and Windmills', the song perfectly showcases theis bright young talent in all their glory. The song builds up slowly with honest sincere lyrics throughout, before the band launch into a killer chorus which instantly grabs your attention, I can already see this song being played in a packed sweaty club with fans screaming the lyrcs right back at them, if this doesn't happen soon then there is something seriously wrong within the UK music scene.

WTFest Update

WrongWayRound Promotions has added a slew of new names to its WTFest taking place in Southampton from September 2nd through the 6th.

Amongst the names added are Dead Swans, Ok Pilot, Above Them, Apologies,I Have None and More Than Life.

Also taking place a Free Acoustic show at Reskue skate shop featuring Not Advised, Kids Can't Fly & Matthew Reynolds.

Album Review: Apologies, I Have None - Two Sticks & Six Strings EP

If you are reading this review and are a fan of the much loved band Against Me then I might as well save you a bit of time and tell you that these are going to be your new favourite band so go buy this release right now. Right, now that’s out of the way let’s get down to a proper review. Apologies, I Have None, despite having only a five song EP previous to this, are my ninth most listened to band according to Last.fm, which gives you an idea of just how good I think this band is.

For those of you who don’t know much about this band, they are a two-piece that have gained a pretty substantial following armed with just a guitar, drums and a whole lot of woah-oh’s/gang vocals/handclaps and have the reputation of being two of the nicest blokes in music, they even apologised that I paid £4 for this release rather than getting it for free because I was reviewing it.
