Karate High School Guitarist Beats Cancer
Karate High School guitarist Geoff Garnet has announced he is cancer free, after his biopsy came back negative.Geoff posted on the bands myspace blog:
"Hey all!
Just wanted to let everyone know what’s happened with
me and what to look forward to. The surgery went well, though they had
to do more damage to my arm than was planned. Fortunately, it won’t
inhibit my ability to play, and I’ll be able to do this next tour
coming up. I can’t straighten my arm all the way out, but I can play
guitar, so that’s good enough for me.
I’m also very happy to announce that the biopsy on the lymph nodes
came back negative and the cancer did not spread to the rest of my body. In other words, I am cancer free! All I have to do is
heal and get the arm back into shape. =]
That being said…You all
were so awesome with all your support and well wishes….I think it
worked! I’ll see you all soon…the touring resumes!
Love,
Geoff"
Karate High School Guitarist Diagnosed with Cancer
Karate High School guitarist Geoff Garnett has been diagnosed with skin cancer, specifically malignant melanoma. The band has consequently canceled their March tour with Watchout! There's Ghosts. The band said:
"With only a few days before leaving for tour I was hit with this bombshell and honestly my first fear was not for my life, but that I couldn't tour," said Garnett. "Apparently cancer is a big health risk and these nerds in white labcoats with "fancy" phD's recommend I stay at home for proper treatments."
Garnett adds that the initial results are encouraging for a quick recovery.
