Sage Francis Records New Song To Raise Funds For RNC Arrest Defense
Political Hip-Hop rapper Sage Francis has recorded a new song called 'Conspiracy To Riot'. The track is a reaction to the recent arrests made during the Republican National Convention. One of the arrest made was Francis' close friend Jared Paul.Sage Francis said:
“out of the thousand unjust arrests that will happen this year, why am I focusing on this one in particular? Jared Paul is a fellow Providence poet and musician. We’ve lived together, toured together, protested together, argued with one another from time to time, and shared many incredible moments over the past 15 years. He is a social worker, a community organizer, a selfless human being and a champion of justice. He’d do the same for me in return. He’d probably do the same for you.”

Rage Against The Machine Spark Protest
Rage Against The Machine started a protest after they were not allowed to play at a political rally in Minnesota yesterday. The band were set to play at a left-wing rally called The Ripple Effect, which coincide with the Republican Party Convention. However organisers refused to let the band play, which resulted in them singing through megaphones. The band arrived close to the 7pm curfew time, apparently without a proper permit to perform. When it became clear they would not get to play, the crowd began chanting 'The Star Spangled Banner' and the band's signature chant, "Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me." Zack de la Rocha and Tom Morello then walked to the front of the crowd behind the barriers and sang acapella versions of hits 'Bulls On Parade' and 'Killing In The Name'. They then led the swelling crowd on a march towards the nearby Xcel Energy Centre, leading to further protests downtown.
Also it has been questioned that the local authorties delayed the band's arrival. Caitlin Burns, a stage and logistics manager claimed: "A state patrolman held the band and wouldn't let them enter (backstage) until it was too late."
