Album Review: Burn The Fleet - Burn The Fleet

Southampton's Burn The Fleet are starting to slowly make a name for themselves in the UK independent scene and now being part of the up and coming Walnut Tree family, things can only get better.

If you're fan of passionate Thrice-like rock then you will swiftly become a fan of Burn The Fleet, as these 5 songs are filled with riffs, thumping percussion and strong melodies. 'Conduits' and 'Nautilus' set the tone, with dark, thriving numbers that flow from one to the next, with the latter easing off towards the end and adds a hint of variation.

'Fictional Children' turns out to be one of the EPs highlights with a favourable and somewhat memorable chorus and steady pace. On top of this add a good blend between guitars and passionate vocals from Andrew Convey, who with his band members can carry a song.

Closing track 'Handfuls of Sand' is intense yet beatuiful with its atmospheric delivery, tone and structure; something the band pull off well throughout, as they enable themselves to build each song up to the point where you can't help but be satisfied with the their ideas.

Despite the dark musical tone, Burn The Fleet give off a positive energy and one that can only help them along the way. Definitely a band to keep an eye on.

4/5
