Alter The Press! Presents: Love Isla

Freehold, NJ's Love Isla have played alongside the likes of Hotspur, The Right Coast, and Just Surrender and their self-titled EP was produced by Rob Freeman (Hidden In Plain View). Nevertheless with a strong duel male-female vocal, courtesy of Tim Montalvo and Alexandra Tritto, the five-piece together create a favourable sound that is a strong blend of alt-rock with pop sensibilities.

Whilst the band are honest enough to compare themselves to the likes of Paramore and Hey Monday, the bands rockier side sees bands such as Thrice being used as comparisons.

For Fans Of: Paramore, The Receiving End of Sirens, Thrice and Hey Monday.

Alter The Press: Why should Alter The Press! readers check you out?
Love Isla: We think Alter The Press! readers should check us out because we are something new and different. Having, two lead vocalists, one male and one female, we think it gives the listeners some variety and a sort-of "pick and choose" option. The combination of Tim's experience as a lead singer in many previous indie bands, and Alexandra's classically trained theater background add great vocal melodic craftsmanship and really keep the songs together. We also attribute this to our vast range of influences and variety of songs on our Self-Titled [EP]. You can't just listen to one of our songs and know exactly what we sound like. You need to experience all of our songs to truly know where we are coming from and where we want to go and hopefully the Alter The Press! readers will join us on that journey.

ATP: What's the story behind the band?
LI: Most of us have been in many previous bands together, with the exception of Alexandra. Our previous bands have been more on the heavy side. As we saw the local scene changing before our eyes, and not in a good way, we agreed that we wanted a change of pace and change of scene. We then decided to try something new and more on the "lighter" side. The idea came up that we should not only have two lead vocalists, but have a male/female lead vocal duo. Tim met Alexandra at his job and when we heard what an amazing voice she had, we needed to have her in the line-up. She agreed to join the band, her first band, and the rest is history.

ATP: Single highlight as a band so far?
LI: The single highlight as a band so far would have to be playing at The Studio at Webster Hall in NYC. That, and being interviewed by you guys, of course!

ATP: What are your plans for the 12 months?
LI: We plan on filming and releasing a music video for our single "This House, Not So Empty", which is being written, directed, and produced by Tim (Lead Vocals). The video should be online by May 2011. In addition to that, we plan on releasing an Acoustic [EP] very soon. We also plan on putting on a series of short weekend tours along the East Coast, as well as a 2 week tour in the Spring or Summer of 2011. The tours will consist of both electric and acoustic shows.
