Alter The Press! Presents: We Rob Banks

Melbourne, Australia's We Rob Banks are still fresh band with just a couple of demos floating about and a handful of shows done. However with a current sound that is urgent and instantly favourable, the female-fronted five-piece are likely to be making a name for themselves in no time.

2011 will see We Rob Banks enter the studio to work on their debut EP and have plans to play more shows. With a comparisons to Circa Survive and Versa Emerge, We Rob Banks are certainly one to keep an eye on.

For Fans Of: Versa Emerge, Circa Survive, Paramore and Pierce the Veil.

Alter The Press: Why should Alter The Press! readers check you out?
We Rob Banks: Every band says this, but you should check us out because we’re different! We’re a mix of Closure in Moscow (Aus), Versa Emerge and Circa Survive.
We are young and fun, so our live show is always a blast, plus we have free demos at every show.

ATP: What's the story behind the band?
WRB: We actually started out actually having a male singer, but things quickly didn’t work out. The search for a new singer was a long one but eventually we found Rebecca through some friends! The plan was to always have a male singer, but Bec was so much more dedicated and had so much more ability than any of the other singers we tried. It just worked instantly. The band has been moving forward rapidly since then.

ATP: Single highlight as a band so far?
WRB: We’ve only been a band for a very short amount of time, but our single highlight would easily be our first ever Melbourne show (our 3rd show ever!) It was opening for a band called Stealing O’Neal. It was their underage album launch show. We’d all been fans of the band since high school, so it was amazing to be able to play alongside them for our first hometown show. Everyone was so nice and helpful! It was such an amazing day.

ATP: What are your plans for the 12 months?
WRB: We have a few more local shows for the rest of the year but at the moment we are currently spending most of our time writing for our Debut EP. We’ve booked in studio time for next year and are currently in discussions with several producers. It’s a lengthy process! We’ve also got quite a few tours lined up for next year.
