Alter The Press! Presents: Protect The Target

Since forming eighteen months ago, Bury St. Edmunds' Protect The Target have played shows with the likes of Tell It To The Marines, Lower Than Atlantis, Deaf Havana, and Me vs Hero, as well as release two new EPs with the most recent being ''10'.

With a crisp and edgy sound that sees the five-piece showcase a sensible pop-rock sound, that gives the band a slightly different approach to others in genre. This ambition to stand out, gives the band plenty of potential and tracks like 'Closer' are bound to give them more confidence.

For Fans Of: You Me At Six, Futures and Francesqa.

Alter The Press: Why should Alter The Press! readers check you out?
Protect The Target: ATP readers should check our band out because we're young, enthusiastic and honest! We've tried to steer away from all the cliche's that come along with pop-punk and are just trying our hardest to stand out on our own amongst an ocean of band-by-numbers! We're not just some fad-band, we plan to do this for the long run.

ATP: What's the story behind the band?
PTT: We formed about 18 months ago in our dull market town, we're basically just five friends that met through college and playing in previous bands. It took a couple of line-up changes before we finally found who we felt 100% comfortable with, and then set about playing shows as much as we possibly could. We managed to get a large following in our hometown and the surrounding area and from there we released a debut EP and toured off the back of it in July. The past year and a half has had a lot of ups and downs but we're happy with where we are now!

ATP: Single highlight as a band so far?
PTT: A highlight for me would be our EP release show as all of our best friends were there, and it was amazing to see the venue sell out! We recently played a show with our good friends Tell It To The Marines at a brand new, and very large venue in our town called The Apex. Our home town shows have always been in sweaty little basement venues, which is great. But this night was two days before Ludovico Einaudi played, so it was an honour! Other than that, the funnest moments have probably been on tour - the last tour we did we camped out on the side of the road one night and slept on the balcony over looking a concert hall another.

ATP: What are your plans for the 12 months?
PTT: Over the next 12 months we plan to be out on the road as much as possible! We'll be recording a new record at some point as well - possibly towards summer time. And we're just going to be working as hard as we can at making this work.
