Alter The Press! Presents: Reachback

Since their formation back in 2008, Essex's Reachback have played alongside Attack! Attack! and In case Of Fire and last year signed a development deal with SMG Records, which as a result led the female-fronted pop-rock group to work with producer Simon Gogerly (U2, Gwen Stefani and Stereophonics).

Whilst being a female-fronted pop-rock group draws instant comparisons to a similar US-based group. However the band are open to Paramore comparisons and with tracks like 'No One Else' give them a run for their money. Like a lot of pop-rock groups, Reachback are having fun and plainly enjoying what they're doing.

For Fans Of: Paramore and 30 Seconds To Mars.

Alter The Press: Why should Alter The Press! readers check you out?
Ruby: We’re a band that are striving for success and enjoying having fun, every step of the way!... We love doing what we do; especially live, when we always put on a show to entertain. We’ve been playing together as a settled band for two years, and we’re now starting to feel that everything is really coming together.

Tom: Ruby is amazing!... I’m okay… and the rhythm boys (Joe/Craig) aren’t bad.

ATP: What's the story behind the band?
Reachback: We formed in 2008 after I replied to Tom’s classified ad for a band singer. Craig had just left school with Tom and we got my brother (Joe) to complete the lineup on bass. Fortunately we all get on really well and love writing and playing together. We singed to management last year and released our debut EP ”Butterflies” in the summer, and we just want to keep on doing what we do!

ATP: Single highlight as a band so far?
Reachback: Winning Essex Undiscovered 2010 at Colchester Arts Centre was awesome. So was hearing “Butterflies” on XFM, last September, but I’d have to say our highlight so far has been hearing back the mastered recording of “No One Else” at Stakeout Studios. We’re all chuffed to bits with it!

ATP: What are your plans for the 12 months?
Reachback: We’re really hungry for bigger shows at the moment. We’re going to be gigging non-stop again this year and we’re hoping for some bigger shows and festival slots. We’re currently recording and mixing a track called ‘Without You’ to give away as a free download to fans - and we are looking for the right deal to start recording a debut album this year, too.

'No One Else' by Reachback is released on February 14th.
'Butterflies' by Reachback is available now on iTunes.
