Alter The Press! Presents: TOWN

We straight-up British rock sound, Newport, South Wales' TOWN are joined together by a love for The Clash and The Jam and have played shows with The Buzzcocks, The Bluetones, Kids In Glass Houses and One Night Only.

Late last year they released a new EP, 'Original Design' which was produced by Romesh Dodangoda (Funeral For A Friend, The Blackout and more). It's an EP that is inspired by being young and living in a working class area. Whilst musically they have a sensible approach as their brand of rock is favourable and is compared to the likes of Manic Street Preachers.

With a solid sound, keep a look out to hear more from Town this year.

For Fans Of: The Jam, Manic Street Preachers and The Who.

Alter The Press: Why should Alter The Press! readers check you out?
TOWN: Because we're different from most bands being paraded about the UK scene at the moment. We're bringing back an authentic British sound with plenty of hooks and big choruses to boot. It's not just our songs that we feel will be a credit to us but also our attitude to everything we do within the band. We like to give off a sense off ambition and determination to the audience during our live performances.

ATP: What's the story behind the band?
TOWN: We formed on a love of iconic British bands such as the The Clash, The Undertones and The Jam (to name a few). I guess there was a lot of frustration within the band too, having seen a lot of bands in South Wales doing the same old thing and nobody bringing anything fresh to the table. We started jamming out some tunes together and everything came together pretty naturally for us. In the initial stages of the band we were practicing 4 or 5 times a week, which formed a strong relationship within the band and helped speed up the process when it came to finding the right sound.

ATP: Single highlight as a band so far?
TOWN: Being asked to support Buzzcocks on a few UK dates. They're a band that influence our sound a lot, so to be able to warm up their crowd was a great experience. We ended up stealing some of their fans too. Can't knock it.

ATP: What are your plans for the 12 months?
TOWN: his year for us is a touring year and we've never been more ready to do it. We're looking forward to hitting up as many cities and towns to keep this buzz going. Writing is also important to us, and we're armed with new, raw material that we can't wait to play and we have plenty more in the pipeline. After the release of our debut EP, we'll now be looking at releasing a single. We don't know what song yet, but overall it's gonna be an exciting year!
