Alter The Press: Why should Alter The Press! readers check you out?
Wolves At The Gate: We feel like we've found a pretty unique combination of different genre/styles, and we're stoked on the balance we've been able to achieve. We're getting ready to release our debut EP, "We Are The Ones" on January 31st. We wrote and recorded this album back in the summer of 2010, so needless to say, we're dying to get this released and out to everyone! We pushed ourselves to write the best music we could possibly write. Our goal is definitely not to be the heaviest band out there; plenty of other bands can feel free to take that title! Above all, our music strives to be genuine and authentic, not something manufactured and stale. That means doing things a little differently than everyone else, and we're not afraid to try new things.

ATP: What's the story behind the band?
WATG: Wolves At The Gate started back in April of 2008 at Cedarville University. Steve (guitar/vocals) and our old drummer Ryan Connelly got together and started jamming out some songs Steve had written. Things clicked between them, and Steve recruited myself (Jeremy) to play guitar and Ben Summers (bass) to round out the crew. We played a couple house shows and local things, and Colin Jones (vocals) ended up joining the band a couple weeks later, right before summer break. We hit the ground running in the fall of 2008 and played lots of local shows around Dayton and Columbus. Every couple months we would head into the studio with our friend Tyler Smyth of Lets Get It to release a new song. God definitely blessed us in the year to follow; we had quite a few cool opportunities to play with bands like Thursday, Bring Me The Horizon, Oh, Sleeper and a few other bands we respected. Like I mentioned earlier, we finished recording our debut EP "We Are The Ones" in July of 2010, and we're set to release that on January 31st, just a few days away! We're so stoked!

ATP: Single highlight as a band so far?
WATG: Honestly, the biggest highlight of WATG is just being a band. None of us really expected things to go this far with the band, we just started making music out of a mutual love of the rock/hardcore/alternative stuff that we all grew up on. God has tremendously blessed us with opportunities we never thought possible for a bunch of dudes in a tiny Ohio college town. Everything that's happened to us (and will happen) is completely a result of God's unfailing grace in our life and His vision for our band.

ATP: What are your plans for the next 12 months?
WATG: We'd love to make this our career, but there's obviously no guarantees for us as a band. We're honestly just taking everything a day at a time. We're releasing this EP in a few days, so once that's officially out in the wild, we'll go from there. We'd obviously love to tour and all that, but we'll have to wait and see if we get label interest and see if everything works out on that end. We greatly appreciate everyone's support so far...I know this can be cheesy to say, but we really do have some of the greatest and most dedicated fans/friends, and I want to give a shout out to our manager Chad Weirick of Red Lotus Management for all he's helped us out with. We wouldn't be where we are without him!
