Alter The Press! Presents: Day Of The Sirens

Colchester, Essex's Day Of The Sirens have kicked off 2011 with plenty of momentum, as their new EP, 'A Kiss From Nyx' has received praise numerous publications and websites. Their brand of atmospheric Alt-rock sees the band thinking large thus resulting in sonic numbers like '211 Kramer', which resonate with an anthemic aura.

Although comparisons to bands like Emarosa and Saosin have been made, its clear that Day of The Sirens have a confident and refreshing manner that makes them more exciting.

For Fans Of: Alexisonfire, Emarosa, Saosin and Funeral For a Friend.

Alter The Press: Why should Alter The Press! readers check you out?
Day Of The Sirens: We're "Epic and gloriously melodic". Not my words, the words of RockSound magazine.

ATP: What's the story behind the band?
: We had all been kicking about in different bands in the Colchester seen and I (xavi) personally was a massive fan of Jacks previous work climber and theyobey. Naturally when Jack asked me to team up with him I jumped at the chance. We recorded our first EP in 2009 and had it all ready to go before we even gigged, as we wanted to be able to launch as a full package. After building up a loyal following in our area, we headed out on a UK tour and battled the worst snow this country has had in 15 years, but we like things to be epic so we embraced the challenge and made it to every venue.

We have completed and released new EP 'A Kiss From Nyx' recorded by our very own Chris Morley. It has received great hype and fantastic reviews in the press and it's still building. We're planning to tour the hell out of the UK this year!

ATP: Single highlight as a band so far?
Day Of The Sirens: Playing the Birmingham O2 academy was pretty insane. We were still in our early days and to play to an audience of more than 2000 and have our own dressing room with beers was crazy. Also we played with Taking Dawn, and they were really cool guys, so that was a great show too.

ATP: What are your plans for the 12 months?
Day Of The Sirens: We've got a music video out in March which is looking incredible, and it was all done with green screen with a really cool concept with animations to tie in with the lyrics, so we're really excited to get that out. We've got some festivals lined up, still waiting on the big boys but with the current press and huge buzz around the band at the moment we're quite hopeful. We've also got a lot more touring to go. Chris and Jack can't stop writing songs too which sound great so that's really exciting too.
