Alter The Press! Presents: Departures

Having formed in 2009 after the demise of several New Jersey bands (Repeating Goodbye!, Mispent Youth and Goodnight Bravado), Departures have gone on to play shows alongside Crime in Stereo and The Swellers and more.

With an honest, hard working ethic, the four-piece are now set to gain new recognition with a new EP, 'Without Fear'.Produced by John Naclerio (Brand New, My Chemical Romance, Polar Bear Club,) the EP sees the bands punk influences being blended with a subtle, uplifting post-rock stance. With such an interesting combination, its worth giving Departures a chance as they have a refreshing and truthful approach.

For Fans Of: Set Your Goals, The Swellers, Strike Anywhere and Transit.

Alter The Press: Why should Alter The Press! readers check you out?
Departures: Because of the music! We make fast, catchy, punk rock that we feel anybody can relate too. Our lyrics are about real topics and real experiences that we all deal with throughout our lives. So, why should ATP readers check out DEPARTURES? The better question is what do you have to lose? Give a new band a chance. You just might like us.

ATP: What's the story behind the band?
Departures: The story behind the band is really long, but heres the condensed version. Its a tale as old as time. We all met in high school and became best friends. After many years of playing in separate bands, we all got together and made a band based on one concept: sincere punk rock that we play for ourselves.

ATP: Single highlight as a band so far?
Departures: There are so many things that we really hold close to us in the last year as a band. We played with Crime in Stereo and The Swellers. Our new record just came out and we went on tour. I'm gonna have to say playing to new faces and in different cities every night has been the biggest highlight.

ATP: What are your plans for the 12 months?
Departures: We plan to tour as much as humanly possible and to promote our new EP like crazy. Thats all we really have planned right now, but its subject to change.

'Without Fear' by Departures is available now and can be purchased here.
