Alter The Press! Presents: Hailey, It Happens

Joined together by an admiration for electronic pop, Saugus, Massachusetts duo Chris Cleary and BobbyDiBari have been writing songs together since they were fourteen. Now together as Hailey, It Happens, the duo are set to release their debut full-length, 'Auruoa' in April. For the album the band worked with acclaimed producer Paul Leavitt (All Time Low, VersaEmerge, The Dangerous Summer).

The resulting release sees the band blending intrictate, heartfelt lyrics to airy electronica, which sees Hailey, It Happens being compared to Owl City and Lights, whilst at the same time their sensible songwriting gives the bands a sense of originality.

For Fans Of: Lights and Owl City

Alter The Press: Why should Alter The Press! readers check you out?
Hailey, It Happens: We’re something new. We don’t think pop music has to be shallow or disposable. While you’re dancing and singing along, you should be able to appreciate the musicality and actually pay attention to the lyrics. So that’s what we bring. Pop music that’s sincere, heartfelt and rewards listening a little closer. And hopefully will get stuck in your head at the same time.

ATP: What's the story behind the band?
HIH: The two of us have been working together on different projects since we were in middle school. This one started because we were both fans of electronic pop at the time, but we always wished it was less disposable party music and a bit more sincere. So we figured, if we want to hear it, let’s make it ourselves!

ATP: Single highlight as a band so far?
HIH: Easily sitting down with the mastered version of Aurora and listening for the first time. To be able to listen to something you made and be really happy and satisfied with it, that’s not easy to do. When you’re passionate about the music you’ve made, it’s so exciting to be able to share it.

ATP: What are your plans for the 12 months?
HIH: Right now we’re just trying to get the music out there to as many fans as possible. We’ll be playing regional shows, possibly doing some short East Coast tours in the summer and promoting at Bamboozle and the New England Warped dates. We also have a vinyl release coming and are heading back into the studio to record a little something for release in the summer to tide people over.

'Aurora' by Hailey, It Happens is released on April 5th.
