Alter The Press! Presents: Mishkin

Having recently appeared on the Red Bull Bedroom Jam, for Leeds prog-metal band Mishkin its just the latest in a long line of achievements. Since forming in 2005 the band have toured throughout the UK, recorded a song for 2008 Beijing Olympics, toured China twice and played shows alongside Sepultura, Enter Shikari and Skindred.

With their new EP, 'Row Away From The Rocks' sees the five-piece mixing the heavier side of Enter Shikari and mixing it with the more melodic parts of Thrice, as well as taking a direct and eclectic approach. Resulting in a refreshing, exciting take on the bands chosen genre.

For Fans Of: Faith No More, Thrice, Enter Shikari, Incubus

Alter The Press: Why should Alter The Press! readers check you out?
Mishkin: The lovely readers of ATP! should check us out because we're different to a lot of the bands around at the moment. Our music covers an eclectic mix of styles, we have a song for every taste yet we still retain the mishkin sound across all of our work. We're not your typical "arms crossed and look angry" kind of band. We play thoughtful, soulful music and live we keep it fun and play every show like it's our last! Get on the myspace or facebook and check us out

ATP: What's the story behind the band?
Mishkin: Formed in 2005 we've toured relentlessly all over the UK and been over to China to tour twice. About 2 years ago we took a break from touring and spent a good few months writing songs for our upcoming release 'Row Away From The Rocks'. We recorded this monster with Justin Hill from Sikth which we are immensely proud of (we have some very amusing video blogs from the recording sessions check them out here.) We are looking to release it in may and follow it up with constant shows around the country. We also have tours of europe in the pipeline and a possible return to China next year.

ATP: Single highlight as a band so far?
Mishkin: Touring China was an incredible moment for the band, in particular headlining shows in Shanghai City Square to over 2000 people and playing the Beijing midi festival to 10,000 screaming fans! Absolute insanity!!! So the China experience along with appearing as tour supports to Sepultura, Enter Shikari and Skindred have been huge highlights.

ATP: What are your plans for the 12 months?
Mishkin: We're currently in the Red Bull Bedroom Jam which is a fantastic opportunity for us to potentially play the big festivals...download, sonisphere etc so hopefully that will be our summer taken care of! Which will tie in nicely with the release of our shiny new EP, 'Row Away From The Rocks'. The video for our lead single 'Good Day To Die' is out on the net at the moment and received over 25,000 plays since going online a few weeks ago, be sure to check this out. Its animated genius from the boys at grape productions. It will be hitting most of the major tv stations soon so keep your eyes peeled.
