Alter The Press! Presents: Article Thieves

Article Thieves' members come from far and wide; Devon, Kent, London and Italy but came together after meeting at University in Birmingham. Since then the four-piece have been building momentum around Birmingham and London with numerous shows. In addition they've released two singles, 'Lakeside' and 'Tricycle'.

Their style is one made up of powerful melodies, slick guitar lines and laid-back and favorable rhythms that has seen Article Thieves likened to bands such as Jimmy Eat World and Pheonix. With such an approachable sound, expect Article Thieves' momentum to continue in the coming months.

For Fans Of: Jimmy Eat World, Bloc Party and Phoenix.

Alter The Press: Why should Alter The Press! readers check you out?
Article Thieves: Readers should check us out if they're looking for an amazing live show and a sound that's a little different from the usual. With our self-invented genre of 'Rock 'n Pluck' we hope to at the very least turn a few heads and inject a little energy into anywhere we play.

ATP: What's the story behind the band?
AT: Matt and Ben met in first year at Birmingham University, and shortly after recruited the Ben Kenobi of the bass-world, Joel Starkey. A few months later, only one drummer was left on Campus who met the band's high standards was found in Toby Wilkins. The band's been going from strength to strength ever since.

ATP: Single highlight as a band so far?
AT: Coming runners-up in the national Student Beans Battle of the Bands 2010. We loved every second of the competition as it gave us a chance to showcase our music to a massive online audience. On the final night we were privileged to play with 2 other awesome bands, and although we didn't quite do enough to win the top spot, we grew a lot from the whole experience.

ATP: What are your plans for the 12 months?
AT: Been writing some sweeeet new songs for you guys, and will be looking to get in the studio and get them down as soon as possible. Between that, as many live shows as we can muster, a couple tours (dates TBC) and trying to find a musical cure for unhappiness, we're gonna be pretty busy!
