Alter The Press! Presents: Escape Directors

Originally starting as a backing band for singer-songwriter Steve Carter. He quickly connected with Nick Wilson (piano/guitars), drummer Colin Rieser and bassist Brendon Bigley and eventually led to the quartet forming Escape Directors; a New Jersey indie rock band.

Their latest EP, 'The Crowded Room' is a well-crafted collection of warming harmonies and saw the band work with producer Jim Wirt (Incubus, Jack's Mannequin). From the calm yet pleasing tone of 'The War Outside' to the inspirational sound of 'The Distant Past', Escape Directors provide a sensible and sincere sound that will interest Death Cab For Cutie and Coldplay fans.

On the whole, Escape Directors bring a mature and honest approach to the indie rock genre that is finely-tuned and uplifting.

For Fans Of: Coldplay, Death Cab For Cutie, and Radiohead.

Alter The Press: Why should Alter The Press! readers check you out?
Escape Directors: We get lots of recognition for having indie-influenced music that still caters to the mainstream radio-lovers. The honesty of the songs make it easy for fans to connect to the music. We find ourselves in between a lot of styles that leave us accessible to a variety of music tasters.

ATP: What's the story behind the band?
Escape Directors: The band formed around singer Steve Carter as he wanted a band to support the songs he had written. It evolved and matured over a year and a half to form it's current outfit. We are putting out our second EP, "The Crowded Room," in July, which was recorded with platinum producer Jim Wirt (Incubus, Jack's Mannequin).

ATP: Single highlight as a band so far?
Escape Directors: We've played a lot of awesome shows - one that sticks out a lot for us is when we opened for Jack's Mannequin. We are all admirers of Andrew McMahon, so it was fun to share the stage and chat with him afterwards.

ATP: What are your plans for the 12 months?
Escape Directors: Right now the focus is promoting for our EP Release July 16th. After that it's playing shows and working on new material and finding a financial supporter so we can drop the side-jobs and focus on our art.

'The Crowded Room' by Escape Directors is released on July 16th.
