Alter The Press! Presents: Violet

Hailing from Derby in the East Midlands, Violet are a Alternative/Post-Hardcore septet that are currently gathering momentum throughout the UK.

With comparisons to US bands such as Emarosa, Isles and Glaciers, and Chiodos, their latest single, 'Perspectives' sensibly blends stagnant guitars, intense drums and screamo vocals with a favorable melodic tone, courtesy of clean vocalist Jonny Nelson. Ultimately it proves to be a winning combination, and is on par with the aforementioned transatlantic bands.

It's no doubt that Violet's somewhat unique sound will continue to gain attention, as they will be playing shows throughout UK this summer, touring with Hey! Alaska in September, and a new EP later in the year.

For Fans Of: Emarosa, Isles and Glaciers, and A Skylit Drive.

Alter The Press: Why should Alter The Press! readers check you out?
Violet: We believe that we have a pretty unique sound in comparison to what a lot of UK bands are doing right now. We put 100% of ourselves into every song we write and every show we play and we feel that people can connect easily with our music. We love what we do, there’s seven of us, you should definitely check us out.

ATP: What's the story behind the band?
Violet: The band started in the summer of '07 as a four piece and went through a few member changes until it became what it is now. All of us had played in previous bands but with Violet it just seemed to click. We played way too many local shows and then began to spread out across the UK, having now played all over! We are just doing what we enjoy most and have began to build up a strong fan base because of it. Violet seems to get a lot of support from a lot of people which we appreciate intense amounts.

ATP: Single highlight as a band so far?
Violet: One of the highlights so far would be having the opportunity to record with Kevin Peters of Anemic studios. He is an amazing guy, so passionate about what he does, and he got our newest EP sounding better than we ever thought it could. Honestly, we spent the greatest five days in his studio and I think its an experience none of us will ever forget. Much love for Kevin Peters.

ATP: What are your plans for the 12 months?
Violet: Over the next 12 months we plan to tour, tour, and tour. So keep an eye open for us! We've just released a video for our new single ‘Perspectives.' The new EP should be released sometime this year which we are incredibly excited about. We hope to see as many different people and places as we can this year, we want to make it the best year for Violet yet.

'The Brightside' by Violet is released soon.
