Victoria Justice Squashes Ariana Grande "Feud" Rumors

Ever since Nickelodeon's Victorious ended, rumors started that Victoria Justice and Ariana Grande were feuding since they both launched their music careers.

"I would love to set the record straight because I feel these rumors have been going on for way too long," Justice said on The Meredith Viera Show this week.

"Basically, there was an article in Seventeen magazine where [Ariana] had said that she was bullied on set, and the magazine basically alluded to it being me. Once the article came out she texted me privately, and she was like, 'Oh my gosh, I am so sorry. You know how the media twists words. I was not talking about you obviously, I was talking about someone on Broadway I had worked with.' But once it got out there everyone thought that I was this bully and that I was mean to her, which couldn't be further from the truth."

ATP! Killin' It: Emily Wolfe

A lot of artists want fame, money, adoring fans, or a combination of all three – but then there’s Emily Wolfe.

A master of both acoustic and electric music, Wolfe’s work is darkly sexy, a folk-pop- rock mashup with dreamy vocals and scintillating guitar riffs that feel like a heat wave on a winter day.

And more than anything, Wolfe wants to pioneer an entirely new genre of music. She calls it dream-rock.

Later, Swift noticed her Instagram account had also been compromised. "This is going to be a long day," she posted on Tumblr along with #This Is Why I'm Scared Of Technology

ATP! Essential Listening: Niykee Heaton

Niykee Heaton’s debut EP Bad Intentions, which was released in September 2014 and saw immediate success on the iTunes and Billboard charts, demonstrates her extraordinary talent. The 20-year-old from Illinois first rose to fame through YouTube with her acoustic cover of Chief Keef’s “Love Sosa.” She continued to gain popularity with subsequent uploads of several more acoustic rap covers, such as “The Motto” by Drake featuring Lil Wayne, “Bands A Make Her Dance” by Juicy J, and “R.I.P.” by Young Jeezy featuring 2 Chainz.

Although her initial popularity was largely due to her lovely voice and pleasant looks (she recently passed one million followers on Instagram), Bad Intentions showed a completely new aspect of her talent. Along with a knack for songwriting that is impressive for her age, she has a fantastic ability to set the mood for a song with her voice. There is a unifying vibe in the production of the EP, but Heaton is able to make each song unique by vocally communicating emotions.

ATP! Album Review: Meghan Trainor - Title

Fans of Meghan Trainor circa the opening moments of the 2010s might’ve been surprised when the breakout star released seminal single “All About That Bass” back in mid-2014. The Nantucket, Mass. Chanteuse made her first big cracks into the industry from a country angle, writing songs like “DJ Rewind” for Rascal Flatts and performing Hunter Hayes covers on YouTube. With that said, once June of 2014 had came and went, the entire world was all about that bass – Trainor had solidified herself in pop history with one doo-wop of a hit. The question from here, naturally, was whether her mainstream success as an artist would begin with a song that, while enjoyable to millions, also came into criticism by critics as a representative one hit wonder.

ATP! Essential Listening: Crystalyne

If you haven’t heard of Crystalyne by now, you’re sure to soon. 2014 was a huge year for the band; Crystalyne won Canada’s Bell Media RadioStar contest at the Canadian Radio Music awards, played a huge amphitheater in Toronto and headlined shows all across the country.

The band got together through a mutual friend that suggested Josh Given, Justin Niece, Scott Blake and front-woman Marissa Dattoli meet up and jam together. They played a few covers while getting to know each other, and just like that, Crystalyne was born. Two weeks later, they were already offered a tour.

ATP! Album Review: Anomie - S/T EP

Imagine a scene in a 90s movie of a melancholic beach trip; Anomie’s self-titled EP would be the soundtrack. The four-song length album showcases Rachel Browne’s vocals and guitar work, delivering a 90s soft pop feel. With a current boom in the revival of 90s culture, Anomie fits right in.

The first song on the EP, “So Long,” is the most upbeat track and kicks the EP off with a happy, beach-y feeling. The simple sound of Browne’s fingers sliding on the strings of the guitar at the start of the song brings a garage band-esque feeling that lingers for the rest of the song, and allows for stronger connection with the listener than if it sounded like a pristine recording. “So Long” is a song for anyone.

ATP! Album Review: Janet Devlin - Running With Scissors

If you’re searching for a new album addiction that fulfills all your folky pop, sweet love, and carefree sunshine-y needs, Janet Devlin’s debut album, Running with Scissors, is sure to satisfy whatever whim and mood you might come upon during your day. This Irish songwriter has broken into the music scene after her discovery as a contestant on X Factor, and with her refreshing twist on mainstream pop music, it doesn’t look like she’s leaving the scene anytime soon.

Devlin’s angelic voice rings through the album, especially in the slower ballads such as “Things We Lost in the Fire” and “Whisky Lullabies.” There’s no doubt Devlin has talent—a voice like this is hard to find; it draws listeners in with striking, raw purity and tender, moving lyrics. In contrast with these slower, sweeter melodies, Devlin steps out with foot-tapping, dance-like songs such as “Creatures of the Night,” which is the perfect song to blast in your car and sing along to in the middle of the night.

ATP! Album Review: Hey Rosetta! - Second Sight

Canadian indie rock outlet Hey Rosetta! is at it again with their latest studio album, Second Sight. Thankfully, for fans of the band, it’s as tightly interwoven and eclectic as Seeds, but with sunnier instrumentation and a surprising showing of controlled turbulence. For those just jumping on the bandwagon with Hey Rosetta!, the band offers up a multifarious, cohesive mix of sounds. While Second Sight was released to the Canadian market on October 21 through Sonic Records, the band is just now offering the LP up for sale on American shores as of January 27.

For those not in the know, Hey Rosetta! began in 2005 as the brainchild of St. John’s singer- songwriter Tim Baker. Realizing that he needed a more bombastic sound on some of the songs he had written during his travels throughout Canada and the United States, he brought on electric guitarist Adam Hogan, bassist Josh Ward, and drummer Dave Lane. It didn’t take long for them to decide on the addition of a cello and a violin to the band, effectively becoming one of the modern Canadian folk-rock pioneers, but with their own hefty, genre-bending twists.

ATP! Interview: Catfish And The Bottlemen

Van McCann, simply put, wants to take over the world.

As the front man of Catfish and the Bottlemen, a Welsh rock band quickly gaining traction and popularity across the world, McCann is uniquely positioned to accomplish that lofty goal.

“I want to be a rock star. Helicopters everywhere, the whole deal. I want everything,” McCann said. His enthusiasm was palpable, even through the garbled connection on the phone. Despite connecting to his manager with a landline, there seemed no remedy for the fact McCann was in the back of a van hurtling towards the airport, bound for a flight to Tokyo.
