New 1997 Song
Despite announcing their hiatus in February, 1997 have announced they have recorded a new song 'Divorce' and includes vocals from orginal member, Kerri Mack. The band also have plans to release another new song called 'Love Is A Dream'.

Vocalist Leaves 1997
Vocalist Kevin Thomas has decided to leave 1997.Message from Thomas:
"Hello all 1997 friends and family, its Kevin. Some of you may have noticed how I did not appear on the last tour after the 4th of November. Due to personal differences in the direction of the band, I have decided to leave 1997 in pursuit of a different adventure. This is my own choice, no one, no event made the decision for me. I still love everyone in the band and wish them the best. The music, and memories I made with all of them will always remain close to my heart. I will never forget skipping work to write the first songs with Caleb in a shitty attic apartment, quitting my job to continue full time building something great with all my friends. I want to experience life in a different fashion now. This is not the last of me, keep your ear to the ground and you will hear me running back to you. I want to thank everyone that has supported us on our insane journey together, it has been a wild ride! Keep listening to the 7s and love every minute of that beautiful music! New 1997 Album Announced
1997 will release their new album, 'Notes from Underground' on October 13th.1997 In Car Crash
1997 were involved in a car crash in Pennsylvania, whilst on tour. Vocalist Kevin Thomas is in critical condition.Messege from the band:
"Hey, we got in a really bad accident in the mountains of Pennsylvania a couple of hours ago, kevin is in critical condition at a hospital here. Everyone else is banged up really bad, it was really rainy and a car just came at us around a curve too fast. A fan is driving the rest of us to our next show in new jersey, Kevins order, Not to let the tour stop because of him being in the hospital. We play Vineland new jersey tomorrow at hanger 84.
Just wanted to let you guys know what's up."
1997 Announce New Female Singer/Keyboardist
1997 have announced Arthi Meera as their new singer and keyboardist.The bands myspace blog said:
"hey all you sevens,
i know you all have been very patient with us waiting to hear the big news we have in store for you. well, your patience is about to be rewarded...
i would like to officially anounce the arrival of our new girl singer/keyboardist.
arthi meera!
arthi came to us like an angel in the middle of a really dark time for us as a band. we started touring with arthi soon after we lost our previous girl, and it clicked right away. at first it was only going to be a temporary thing because arthi is an extremely talented and established songwriter and artist in her own right (myspace.com/arthimeera). but after we came back from tour, we all just missed each other way too much. we decided to start writing right away, and the outcome has been magical. our songs have never sounded this complete, and it has never felt so great to perform together. arthi is such a easy going and funny person that we all gelled together right away and have quickly become best friends. we know that this is a winning combination that will last a very long time.
we cant wait to hit the road again soon and let you guys sneak peak these amazing new songs, and see us, once again as the happy, crazy group of friends that we once were. but trust me when i say, its going to be nothing like you've ever seen or heard before..."

1997 have posted a update on their myspace blog, where they state they are taking time off to write and record their 3rd full length. They are also recording an old song with former singer Kerri Mack. Full blog post:
Hey everyone, Just wanted to let you all know what is going on in 1997 land. First off we want to apologize for canceling the upcoming tour we had planned for this february with galaxy down and death in the park. we were really looking forward to playing with those guys and we were even more excited to see all of you guys! But, do to unforseen circumstances we had to cancel. we are taking these next few months off to write and record our 3rd album. the songs are coming together really well, and we are confident that this is going to be our best record yet, and you guys are going to love it! we will be keeping up with blogs and live video updates all the time, so make sure to check those out to see what we are up to. currently we are in the studio recording an old song with kerri mack that was never released. we haven't figured out how or when we are going to let you all hear it, but all i can say is it will be soon, and it will be amazing... we can't wait until we get the chance to play for you guys again and show you all the new and improved 1997! I'm sure you guys are wondering about the big secret we have been keeping, but keep checking back and in a few days your patience will be rewarded!"
