Roadrunner Records Europe Closing Down?
Trivium frontman Matt Heafy has posted on Twitter that several employees of Roadrunner Records in Europe have lost their jobs and more losses are on the way.Check out several tweets from Heafy below:
"wish I knew who or what to blame specifically, and chew off it's heads - but Roadrunner records just fired some of their best employees."
"But our friends who are being tossed away so quickly by the label are now out of jobs. These people helped bands get where they are today. I don't know if it's corporate greed or it's due to the fact that no one puts value in physical art and that piracy created a domino effect."
"My heart goes out to my friends who have been delivered this awful news today. You helped us get where we are. You're in our thoughts."
When asked directly of who is being let go from the label, Heafy responded:
"uk and Canadian friends so far. A few German too. All RR international people."
The label is yet to make an official statement as of yet.
Underoath Sign To Roadrunner Records (Outside of US/Canada)
Underoath have signed to Roadrunner Records (outside of the US/Canada).Madina Lake Dropped From Roadrunner
In a new interview with Rock Sound, Madina Lake announced they have been dropped by Roadrunner Records. In the interview:
"Roadrunner was fantastic to us, especially in the UK where they continue to do amazing work supporting our band and the release" he continued. "They're a passionate label and they really pushed for our band so we're very grateful. At some point, however, during the 'Attics To Eden' cycle in the USA things started to go wrong. It was bizarre, hundreds of thousands of dollars were spent on having big-name producers do remix after remix of 'Let's Get Outta Here' for US radio, the original version was picking up steam in the UK but for some reason I think they were chasing that 3OH!3, Metro Station-type pop sound for the US. We didn't get it but we said let us tour and you all can do whatever you want."
