Album Review: Matt Pryor - May Day

Matt Pryor has been a huge inspiration and influence on the alternative scene for many more years than most careers last, continually embodying that of a true song writer. His latest release, ‘May Day’ only goes to act as further proof of this, 15 albums in and Pryor’s lyrics still hold a firm grip on relevancy, with his matured character offering up a new side, one which deals with the personal and offers darker shades to his illustrious career - while holding onto what fans have so avidly supported throughout the years.

‘Don’t Let The Bastards Get You Down’ epitomizes the ethics that surrounded, and played a role in the release of this album. With his fan-base funding the release through fan-centric website Kickstarter and Matt launching his new label – Nightshoe Syndicate – taking this stripped back independent approach one step further.

The Get Up Kids NOT Breaking Up - "Taking Time To Work On Other Things"

Despite earlier reports, The Get Up Kids have stated they are NOT disbanding and that they are just "taking time to work on other things" after their current European tour.

The band released the following statement:

"OK. To clarify the earlier post - we are not 'disbanding', like Punktastic seemed to say. That would imply the band is splitting up, again. Nope. Not the case. Not even a hiatus. Just means that we are taking some time to work on other things, and we might not make it to Europe again for a while. End of story. Hiatus is a tricky word now. it means taking a break for sure. though most of the time with bands 'going on hiatus' really means they are splitting up. which is why we didnt say 'we are going on hiatus'. got that?"

The Get Up Kids To Break-Up After European Tour

The Get Up Kids have announced they will be splitting up after their current European tour "to do some different projects".

The band have released the following statement:

"Hey friends, a heads up too, if you are thinking of making it out to one of the upcoming shows. This is most likely the last chance to see us over in Europe for a while - we are all pretty much splitting off to do some different projects once we’re back home. So if you’re saying “I’ll see it next time…” you may well have a long long wait! See you soon, then?!"
