Take Cover Break Up
Take Cover have announced they are breaking up.The band released the following statement:
"As of last week we have decided that Take Cover will be parting ways. The time has come where some of us feel ready to move on to the next chapter of our lives and we had to be honest with ourselves and each other and accept it. Although we are disbanding as Take Cover, I want to assure everyone that this is not the end of music for any of us by any means. It’s in our blood and its not going anywhere."
The Higher Call It A Day
The Higher have announced they have decided to call it a day.The band released the following statement:
"What measures success in music? Today it’s extremely hard to tell, and I don’t see it getting any easier in the future. To me, (Robert Ragan aka Reggie) The Higher was successful because I had an amazing time doing it. Everyday on the road brought a new adventure, a new challenge, and new way of viewing the world. We were able to tour the US and Canada more than a dozen times, Japan 5 times, UK 1 time. We had 2 top 10 singles in Japan, a number 1 video in Japan, and were able to play their version of Coachella which they call Fuji Rock. In the US, we didn’t see the same results we did in Japan, but we didn’t go unnoticed by any means. The 6 years i spent playing with The Higher will probably be best times ill ever have in my life. Great stories to tell the grandkids……well some will have to wait till they’re older, but you get it. We played like shit some nights, and played great some nights. We were a very human band, and anyone who knows us, knows that we did things our way for better or for worse. From members leaving, too label issues, too management issues, we went through it all, and unfortunately we were unable to sustain those blows like other bands can. So, with that being said The Higher is officially done playing music. We have a farewell show in the works which will be in Vegas. The details are vague at best right now, but as soon as we know you will know. Everyone that supported us throughout the years, we sincerely thank you. Bands such as The Matches, Youinseries, Motion City Soundtrack, Sherwood, The Forecast, Quietdrive, Panic at the disco, Everybody Else, Take Cover, Lydia, Park, Silverstein, Ronnie Radke ( He’s a huge fan), Meg and Dia, In Aviate aka Autumn Rhodes, Emery, Between the Trees, Less than Jake, Escape the Fate, The Audition, The Reign of Kindo, Eye Alaska, Red Hot Radio, and Red Wine Rewind we thank you all for touring and helping us along the way. Thanks again everyone!"
A Static Lullaby Announce Break-Up
A Static Lullaby have officially called it a day.Dan Arnold released the following statement:
"I'd like to thank everyone who supported the band for the past 11 years, i'ts been an amazing ride. It's very bittersweet to say that A Static Lullaby will not be making a new record, we are comfortable with what we have done with our music and have decided that "if it aint broke don't fix it". DON'T FRET THOUGH, i'm sure there will be plenty of music to listen to from most of the members. From Joe Brown, Dan Arnold, Brett Dinovo, Matthew Faulkner, Dane Poppin, Tyler Mahurin, John Martinez, Phil Pirrone, Nathan Lindeman. Grown Ups Break-Up
Grown Ups have announced they have decided to call it a day.The band made the following statement:

The Dangerous Summer NOT Breaking Up
Cody Payne of The Dangerous Summer has stated on Twitter that the band has not broken up, despite various rumors circulating.Payne tweeted the following:
"what is? how about you just stop believing the rumors and continue letting the dangerous summer be a band. no one left."
Amely Break Up
Amely have decided to call it a day. The band released the following statement:

We regret the news that many of you have feared, but the time has come where Amely is no more.
The Dangerous Summer Possibly Breaking Up?
Nick Thompson of Hit The Lights has made a statement about what he has heard regarding why The Dangerous Summer have dropped off the band's upcoming US tour (and all shows up until December 17th), which insinuates a possible break-up."Honestly, there’s not much to it. I got word last night that TDS got in a fight in Chicago and they broke up. Then there was talks of an acoustic set by AJ. That apparently won’t happen and then I see that they’re cancelling all activity until Decemer 17th. It’s the date setting that really gets me you know? Like, “Hey we can’t get our shit together enough to figure out this prior commitment that we backed out of last minute, BUT WE SHOULD HAVE IT FIGURED OUT BY THE GLAMOUR KILLS SHOW!” Nope. That’s my inside scoop."
Valencia Annouce Hiatus + Final Show
Valencia have announced they have gone on a hiatus.The band have made the following statement:
"Valencia originally came together back in 2003. Most of us were still just in high school, but we all had gotten to know each other through the tightly knit music community we grew up in around Philadelphia. We started this band because of a mutual need to create something heartfelt and to give everyone a message we needed to share. We all felt like music would be the most significant part of our lives, but never in our wildest dreams could we have predicted the things we’d get to do, or more importantly, the people we would meet because of this band and the songs we wrote and shared with the world.
We started touring full time in late 2004, thanks to everyone at I Surrender Records putting faith in our band and releasing our first record. Ever since then, we’ve given everything we had to our music. We’ve been touring nonstop since then, playing shows in 46 states and five different countries over seven years, all of them places we were brought to thanks to people that believed in what we had to say.
This band started when we were teenagers, and now, as we enter our mid-to-late twenties, we’ve decided that it’s time for us to scale back our time on the road and explore the other elements of life that are not as easily accessible while touring full time. We aren’t considering this our band breaking up, because if that was the case, this situation would feel very final, and it doesn’t feel that way to us. It remains natural for us to write music together and there is always a possibility that we will release new music as Valencia sometime in the future. In the meantime, new music will be written and released by each of us and when that happens, we will let you know.
In honor of starting this next chapter, please join us on December 28th, 2011 for one last show in our hometown of Philadelphia, at the Electric Factory. We hope you’ll be there with us to share one of the most personal, memorable, and important nights of our lives. Thank you all for everything - the letters, the tattoos, the years of listening, for so many countless, priceless sentiments - there’s no way we could ever fully express our gratitude for everything you’ve done for us. The Academy Is... Break-Up
The Academy Is... have announced they have decided to call it a day.The band have made the following statement:
"After nine years and three albums, The Academy Is… have decided to go our separate ways.
We began in 2003 as three young friends in the suburbs of Chicago, with dreams of creating music that meant something to us. Dreams of leaving those suburbs behind and seeing all of the beautiful things that this world has to offer. Dreams of making a difference in the lives of others.
It is now 2011 and we look back at the records we've made, the shows we've played, the places we've been. The people we've met.The Academy Is… has made its mark. We celebrate the experiences of our past, as we welcome what lies ahead. While we have never managed to make things easy on ourselves, it is safe to say that we have always found common ground in our love of music. The Get Up Kids To Break-Up After European Tour
The Get Up Kids have announced they will be splitting up after their current European tour "to do some different projects".The band have released the following statement:
"Hey friends, a heads up too, if you are thinking of making it out to one of the upcoming shows. This is most likely the last chance to see us over in Europe for a while - we are all pretty much splitting off to do some different projects once we’re back home. So if you’re saying “I’ll see it next time…” you may well have a long long wait! See you soon, then?!"
Augustana Break-Up
Augustana have announced they have decided to call it a day.Front man Dan Layus has made the following statement:
"Basically the two original members with me as well, Justin [South] and Jared [Palomar], have parted ways. It’s a sad thing, but it’s been an amicable split and it’s just kinda tough,” Layus reveals. “It’s hard to keep a band together. We had a good run and it was a blast while we could do it, but everybody is good. Everybody is friends. It’s just tough to sustain a business like that."
R.E.M. Announce Break-Up
R.E.M. have announced via their official website they have decided to call it a day.The band made the following statement:
"To our Fans and Friends: As R.E.M., and as lifelong friends and co-conspirators, we have decided to call it a day as a band. We walk away with a great sense of gratitude, of finality, and of astonishment at all we have accomplished. To anyone who ever felt touched by our music, our deepest thanks for listening. - R.E.M."
Snowing Break Up
Snowing have announced they have decided to call it a day.The band have made the following statement:
"I'm going to keep this short, and hopefully fairly devoid of pompous self-importance. Snowing has come to an end at the ripe old age of 3 and a half (that's over 90 in emo years!). Words are really escaping me right now, so I'll just say this: We had a blast writing songs, driving across the country playing shows, imbibing copious amounts of alcohol, and earning future grey hairs by reading all about ourselves on message boards. Thanks for everything."
AFI Not Broken Up; Statement Is Fake
Update: Management are reporting that the following statement from Davey is false:"That's not dave. The band haven't broken up. Someone is just screwing around."
As previously reported: Davey Havok of AFI has announced the band have called it a day.
Havok made the following statement:
"This is the end. Sorry, but AFI is done.
After more than 15 years of being together, we as a band have decided to disband A.F.I.
Me and Jade will still continue the Blaqk Audio project but there will be no more A.F.I albums or shows. We have matured and have other things in life that we would like to attend to. Please forgive us for the random statement but it was something we were thinking of for a while.

The Felix Culpa have announced they have broken up.
The band have released the following statement:
"To whomever is reading this,
Eight years ago we decided to be a band. Tonight we decided to stop. Whether you have been with us since the Divine Cup days in Rockford, IL or you heard us for the first time tonight, thank you. With every ounce of our four hearts, thank you. You have been the reason we were The Felix Culpa and each one of you were with us all along. For those of us in this band, it has been a life changing experience that profoundly shaped who we are as people, but seasons change and songs end. Now, we humbly ask you to be with us one last time as we celebrate the music, friendship and memories that were made along the way in a final performance in Chicago. We’ll let you know the details as soon as they are available. Until then, chin up. No tears. Only from endings can new beginnings be born."
Alexisonfire Break Up
Alexisonfire have announced they have broken up.Front man, George Pettit has revealed that the decision was due to Dallas Green wanting to "focus his efforts on City and Colour" and trying to balance his life with Alexisonfire "and at the same time quelling the success of City and Colour was a task too difficult to continue managing".

Honor Bright Break Up
Honor Bright have announced they have broken up."We’ve been quiet over the last several months… so here’s an update.
Honor Bright has been a band for over 5 1/2 years now. We’ve experienced more than most people could ever even dream of. We’ve seen almost every state. We’ve grown as people, musicians, and brothers. It’s been one of the most difficult and most rewarding experiences imaginable. We wouldn’t have traded a second of it.
With all of that said, it is with insanely heavy hearts that we announce that it’s come to an end. Let it be said right now that it has absolutely nothing to do with personality conflict, lack of love for music, or anything like that. We’re all better friends than ever before. Spending the last 5 1/2 years has done nothing but strengthen our bond as friends. We’ve become a family, and so this coming to an end has nothing to do with that. And as for love of music… well anyone who’s spent more than 5 seconds in a room with any of us knows how we feel about that. But the music BUSINESS is brutal. It’s a cold hearted, bi-polar bitch. It can take your soul away from you and make you forget what’s important. It can take the MUSIC out of it. We started this band out of a desire to write and play the music we love. Songs that moved us and that we could have fun playing. An opportunity to express ourselves. Whether it was our fault or not, we can’t say… but somewhere along the line when this became our career, it started to become less and less fun. It started to be a curse and not a blessing.
Don’t mistake it, we love every show we play. We love you guys so much. And this isn’t the end of music for us. It’s just a chance to let music be what it’s supposed to be – fun. We’re in the process of setting up our last show as we speak, and it’s going to be a great one! We will be playing a ton of our music, probably almost everything we’ve written. Old and new. We’ll have great friends joining us for the show. And it’ll be cheap. Our way of saying goodbye.
Finally… we can’t say thank you enough. There’s no way we’d ever be able to express just how happy you’ve made the last 5 1/2 years of our lives. Your smiling faces, sweaty hugs, ridiculous pictures, perfect presents, and loud voices have been what kept us going through the hardest times. Whether you’ve been listening to us for 5 1/2 years or just found us recently, we love you and appreciate you so much. Without you, we would have never survived this long. Thank you for giving us life. We love you with every piece of our being. Stay tuned for info on our last show."
