Alter The Press! Presents: Floral Terrace

New York trio Floral Terrace are set for major things in 2011, with a new EP, 'The Better Life' and several US tours. Having worked with Rob Freeman (Hit The Lights & Cobra Starship) and Jim Wirt (Incubus and Jacks Mannequin,) the indie-pop group have all the tools to get bigger.

With comparisons to the likes of Acceptance and Anberlin and having played shows with the likes of The Ready Set, We Are The In Crowd and Artist Vs Poet, Floral Terrace's tight sound is quickly gaining much attention and exposure, and in addition the bands recent deal with Crush Tone will surely give them an extra push.

For Fans Of: Acceptance, Motion City Soundtrack, Angels and Airwaves and Anberlin.

Alter The Press: Why should Alter The Press! readers check you out?
Floral Terrace: Our sound blends everything from 90s pop-punk to Acceptance's Phantoms to the new Kings of Leon record, with 7 singles on it.

We just got done recording our debut EP with producer Jim Wirt (Incubus, Jacks Mannequin, Hidden In Plain View) and he further pulled all these influences out of us.

ATP: What's the story behind the band?
FT: ustin and George have been in garage bands since high school and John was in a band called Southcott. Everyone was playing shows around the Lower Hudson valley of New York with bands like Matchbook Romance, The Morning Of, Just Surrender etc, so to some degree everyone kind of knows everyone and jams at one point or another. Its how most bands are formed around here.

ATP: Single highlight as a band so far?
FT: Recording with Jim was another because he's done so many of our favorite CDs. I mean it was wild taking lunch breaks and hearing songs he did on the radio while eating (Hoobastank, Fiona Apple etc/) We'd step in from lunch and be like hey Jim you were in the car with us the whole ride.

ATP: What are your plans for the 12 months?
FT: Well we've just released a new single, 'Hey (Don't Turn Away)', and we're currently on tour (known as the @TwitTour2k11) with For The Foxes and This Condition. Then we head out with Under Spinning Lights and My Aim Is True. We're just kind of going with the flow. Any bands reading this should hit us up for shows! Our new cd, 'The Better Life' comes out in March/April, so were looking to tour 24/7 off of it.

''Hey (Don't Turn Away)' by Floral Terrace is available now on iTunes.
