Interview: Tegan and Sara

Prior to their biggest sold out show to date in London, England; Alter The Press sat down with Tegan and Sara before hitting the stage at the Camden Roundhouse.

The Canadian duo spoke to ATP about the recent 'Alligator' remix LP, the forthcoming music videos for 'On Directing' and 'Northshore,' their future plans to conquer the UK and more.

Alter The Press: How has this European run gone so far?
Sara Quin: It's been good. I like how Tegan gave me so much space, because I have the most interesting story from this tour so far; it involved food poisoning, and me having it. This tour has mostly been about barfing.

Tegan Quin: With me, not so much. It's been really good.

Sara: The weather has been really great; the shows have all been amazing. Germany was great; Ireland was insane. I was walking around the venue here, this morning, and it's the most beautiful venue I've seen in London.

Tegan: It's been perfect. It's two weeks, everyone is still fresh faced and happy. We could keep going for another week, but I don't want to, let's not push it.

To support the release shortly afterwards, Kevin was straight on the road supporting Brand New and Manchester Orchestra in the UK, a cross country US headline tour, supporting The Get Up Kids on their US reunion tour and wrapping up the year with Brand New at the 18,000 capacity Nassau Colosseum in New York.

Just three tracks into the first listen, it was so obvious that this album would not disappoint. With six albums under their belt, Tegan and Sara's latest installment really did meet all expectations. It really wasn't hard when narrowing down our number one album of 2009.

To kick off our new monthly feature, it gives me great pleasure to say that Canada's own Tegan and Sara will be our Band Of The Month for November.

The Quin sisters have just released their latest installment, 'Sainthood', which is 36 minutes of gold.

The duo's new video for 'Hell'; which was directed by Jamie Travis, will feature on the main page throughout November.

Tegan and Sara also make their UK return to a string of now sold out dates later this month.

Tegan And Sara For Los Angeles Instore

Tegan and Sara have announced details of an instore signing in Los Angeles this Tuesday.

The duo will be signing at Stories Bookstore between 4pm-8pm.

Tegan and Sara posted the following message:

"to celebrate the release of SAINTHOOD, we are hosting a special signing in Los Angeles at Stories book store on tues, october 27, from 4-8pm. We thought long and hard about how many people we could realistically accommodate given the size of the store. We considered the amount of time it would take to sign cds or the rubbers of your sneakers while squeezing in a photo and divided those digits by the square root of day light savings hours. The magic number…500.

In order to get a wristband for the event you will have to pre-order the album at stories bookstore between october 23 and october 27. There are only 500 of these wristbands, and those will be the only 500 people who will have access to the signing and photo taking. I’m over stating this fact because i worry that you may sleep in your mom’s aerostar mini van overnight thinking that if you exhibit both patience and adorable dedication you will get in to the bookstore without a wristband. sadly, no. so if you REALLY want to go, make sure to pre-order the record at Stories and secure a wristband.

Album Review: Tegan and Sara - Sainthood

Canada's own Tegan and Sara are back with their highly anticipated sixth album release, 'Sainthood,' and have plenty to show for it.

After their 2007 release, 'The Con,' the Quin sisters set the bar very high in order to top such an incredible album but, 'Sainthood' seems to have done the job with ease.

The album is definitely more band/instrument orientated than any previous release from the duo but their blend of vocal harmonies and catchy melodies, mix together to create this incredible fusion of music which is irresistible to the ear.
