│ Digg This│ Stumble ThisAlbum Review: Rushmore - D-List Celebrities
Finally summer is here and its time to blast out some upbeat pop punk. With so many possibilities to becoming the soundtrack to the summer. Rushmore, a four-piece from New Jersey/ Philadelphia, are throwing their name into the hat, and rightly so they should.
'D-List Celebrities' is 5 fine examples 3 minute hook-filled pop punk. 'I Am Hollywood' kicks in with a toe-tapping beat and power chord-heavy guitars, which combine to be straight-up, all round pop punk fun. Add to this a brilliant blend of harmonies and group vocals, the EP starts on a high.
This momentum is carried throughout the EP, with 'Take The Honey (Get This Party Started!)', a track that has an instantly addictive chorus. Whilst 'The Wake Up Call' is a more bassy affair but keeps its pop sentimentality, that again uses the bands ability to combine strong harmonies.
'Never As Clever' is slightly steadier with calmer guitars and thought out song structure. Nonetheless the band end with what they know best. 'Spring Breakdown' is an out and out pop punk track with power chords, crashing drums, memorable chorus and even the odd "woah".
Rushmore will more than likely put a smile on your face, as they have songs that have catchy hooks that are ideal for hot summer days. The problem is that Rushmore are just of dozens of bands, doing the exact same thing in the genre at present. However this shouldn't mean Rushmore are another one of those "sounds like ..." bands. They have songs and talent to break through that glass ceiling.

│ Digg This│ Stumble ThisSenses Fail Guitarist to Leave
Senses Fail guitarist Heath Saraceno will leave the band at the end of the bands Warped Tour run.
A full press release can be read by clicking read more.
June 30, 2009 – SENSES FAIL announces that guitarist Heath Saraceno will be leaving the band later this summer after the band completes their headlining run on the Smartpunk.com Stage on the Vans Warped Tour. The band is touring in support of their third full-length disc, Life Is Not A Waiting Room (Vagrant, 10/08). Saraceno, previously a guitarist/vocalist in the band Midtown, joined Senses Fail in 2005.
Senses Fail singer Buddy Nielsen made the following statement:
“Unfortunately, we have some said news to report. Our wonderful friend and amazing guitar player, Heath Saraceno, will be leaving Senses Fail after the upcoming Warped Tour. There is no ill will on any either side, Heath has just decided it is his time to leave the music business and pursue a career in another field. I think the longer you do this the harder it becomes to leave home for months and months at a time, devote all your life to just one cause and at some point in a musicians life they must decide if this is for them anymore.”
“We wish Heath the best of luck in all endeavors; he will always be one of our closest and most important friends. As for Senses Fail, we will carry on and we’re already planning a fall headlining tour and then expect to head into the studio. We have no idea who will fill Heath's (literally) large shoes, but we are on the lookout.”
Heath Saraceno’s statement:
“I'm going to be leaving Senses Fail after this summer's Warped Tour. I've shared many great times with these guys over the past 4 years or so. We've made 2 records I'm very proud of, toured the world and the states countless times, and I've made friends with people I would not have met otherwise. These guys from Jersey (and Atlanta by way of Florida) have turned into some of my closest friends, and I will miss seeing them as often as I've been able to.”

Tony from the band said:
We have a new record folks. After several months of writing, some vacation time, a broken arm, surgery, recovery, physical therapy, and a lot of recording-in-a-weird-order-because-i-couldn’t-play-drums-yet, June 28th was the day we finished record #4. Special thanks to everyone who was involved in the recording of this record, I can’t explain how much fun it was, and what a great team of people we worked with. It wasn’t easy to get to where we are now, but we did it, and we can’t wait for everyone to hear it. Be patient, and I think you’ll be happy.

A press release and tour dates can be read by clicking read more.
Set Your Goals Release New Album 'This Will Be The Death Of Us' 20th July
Pop-Punk¹s Hottest Band Play Reading and Leeds Festival and London¹s newly
re-launched venue Relentless Garage
Bay Area pop-punk band Set Your Goals will release their widely anticipated
new album 'This Will Be The Death Of Us' on July 20th via Epitaph Records.
Produced by Mike Green (Paramore, The Matches), the album features twelve
relentless tracks of balls-to-the-wall, infectious non-stop pop-punk.
Successfully overcoming the difficult second album syndrome, Set Your Goals
come out guns-a-blazing on 'This Will Be The Death Of Us', the follow-up to
their breakthrough debut 'Mutiny'. From the galloping drum beat and the
ripping riffs of the title track, which features guest vocals from Vinnie
Caruana from I Am the Avalanche, to the soaring choruses of the catchy
sing-along 'Look Closer' and the blazing punk rock track 'The Fallen,' which
showcases duel vocalists Matt Wilson and Jordan Brown's flawless delivery as
they trade off singing duties, 'This Will Be The Death Of Us' is set to be
the punk rock album of 2009.
While 'This Will Be The Death Of Us' has the definitive Set Your Goals
sound, they aren¹t afraid to keep it fresh and try new things. ³'Gaia Bleeds
(make way for man)' takes things to a whole new level with Audelio Flores
and Dan Coddaire¹s Motorhead-esque riffs and Mike Ambrose's tightly knit
blast beats over gang vocals, and the soon to be fan favourite 'The Few That
Remain,'² an insanely addictive song that features longtime Set Your Goals
fan Haley Williams of Paramore adding some gutsy vocals. The band finishes
off the album with the 90's skate punk influenced 'Our Ethos: A Legacy To
Pass On,' featuring spitfire, fist-pumping guest vocals from New Found
Glory¹s Chad Gilbert.
This may only be the band's second album, but you wouldn¹t know it. Set Your
Goals has already proven their longevity and dedication to the music through
relentless touring and their classic punk debut Mutiny, and with the release
of ³This Will Be The Death Of Us² it further cements them as one of the
pop-punk greats. Catch the band this summer as they follow up their
successful 2008 appearances at Give It A Name (Kerrang! these Californians
go down like free candy) with highly anticipated performances at Reading and
Leeds Festival and London's newly re-launched venue the Relentless Garage!
Set Your Goals Tour Dates:
August 28 Leeds Festival, UK
August 29 Reading Festival, UK
August 30 Ieperfest festival, Belgium
August 31 Relentless Garage, London
more dates to be announced soon
