Creature Colony have posted their new single, 'Black Book' on Bandcamp.
Album Review: Weerd Science - Sick Kids
You don’t often associate power-prog-rock and indie rock with hard-up rap, but in the case of former Coheed and Cambria/current Terrible Things drummer and Weerd Science brainchild Josh Eppard, those three things go together like peanut butter and jelly. Take Eppard’s second entry into the rap game, ‘Sick Kids’, for example.
This record proves that Eppard might be far more wacked out than some may have previously thought, and judging by this new content it seems the man is plunging deeper down the rabbit hole. These tunes are far more dangerous and drug-addled than 2005’s ‘Friends and Nervous Breakdowns,’ and it seems that Eppard is done spouting blameful diatribes at others who wronged him in the past, instead turning within, expending a good chunk of lyrics waxing introspective, casting blame on himself.
Album Review: Sleeping With Sirens - Let's Cheers To This
"Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit, sed diam nonummy…"
I would never start an album review with the above (apart from now, but I’m making a pedantic point), so why would anyone start an album with the lyrical equivalent: “woah-oh a oh, woah-oh a oh”? Talk about making a terrible impression.
However, for many, the initial impression will be Kellinn Quinn’s vocal range – we are talking some sort of middle ground between Geddy Lee and Cove Rober. It is certainly distinctive – but not unpalatable.

Interview: Justin Siegel (City (Comma) State & Stars In Stereo)
Last week pop-rock band City (Comma) State announced they were breaking up after vocalist Joanna Pacitt left the group to persue a solo career. As a result of the break up, the remaining members have started a new band called Stars In Stereo.
Before breaking up, City (Comma) State toured with All Time Low and A Rocket To The Moon had worked closely with Blink-182's Mark Hoppus, with some of the resulting material appearing on their new EP, 'The First Last EP'.
Alter The Press! recently talked to bassist Justin Sigel about both bands including City (Comma) State's connection with Mark Hoppus, their new EP Stars In Stereo's future plans, and more.
Alter The Press: First of all Justin, Could you introduce yourself and your role in both City (Comma) State and Stars In Stereo?
Justin Siegel: My name is Justin Siegel, and I play bass, sing background vocals, and co-write (along with Jordan McGraw, Keith Varon and Drew Langan) for City (Comma) State and Stars in Stereo.
ATP: A lot of people may know of City (Comma) State from their affilation with Mark Hoppus. How did this begin?
JS: Mark and I had been friends for a short while when we felt a mutual notion to work together. Frogs (Ryan McCormack) and I had been working on a few tracks for fun, I showed them to Mark and that same day, he started to record bass. It grew from there. We wanted a female singer and I had known Jo for 10+ years so she came on board, and we just kept recording. Mark started off being in the band, but as his list of responsibilities grew, ie Blink reunion and his Fuse show, it became obvious that he couldn't take on the added load of being in another group. So I tried to fill his massive shoes on bass and backgrounds and we added Drew to play drums since that was my role originally. We added Jordan McGraw (guitarist) just before we started touring.

‘Drift Away’
This song is about how our body clocks are all screwed up these days and how it’s hard to get to sleep even when we really want to. It’s a song a lot of people who life lives similar to us can hopefully relate to. In particular when on tour it’s hard to have a normal body clock. Often we will sleep in the day in the van and then be up till the early hours after shows. It’s something you become used to but at times would prefer to have a normal routine.

Alter The Press! Presents: United Fruit
Formed in Glasgow, Scotland in 2008 United Fruit have been making a name for themselves locally with their brand of distorted brand of alt-rock that has seen the quartet be compared to the likes of ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead and These Arms Are Snakes.
Their latest release, 'Fault Lines' is a combination of noisy, riff-heavy numbers mixed with a melodic and poppy approach that has led the band to play shows alongside Maps & Atlases, Die! Die! Die!, and Future Of The Left.
Alter The Press: Why should Alter The Press! readers check you out?
United Fruit: Because we have the tallest bass player this side of Greece and riffs in size to match.

Interview: Great Cynics
Since releasing his well-received 'Stones I've Thrown' EP last year, Giles Bidder's Cynics project has gone through numerous changes. Most notably the one-time solo act has become a trio and has changed its name to Great Cynics. Now joined by drummer Bob Barrett and Iona Cairns on bass, the band are set to release their debut full-length 'Don't Need Much' next month.
Alter The Press! recently caught up with front man Giles Bidder to discuss the line-up changes, the new name, how 'Don't Need Much' came together and more.
Alter The Press: Awhile ago your solo act expanded to a trio. What was the motive for this?
Great Cynics: We wanted it to be louder. Also I think there's something awesome about three piece bands - there's no bullshit, no complications. Plus our preferred demographic includes air-drummers, so we needed to think about those guys.
ATP: How did you join up with Bob Barrett and Iona Cairns?
GC: At one point last year I realised the ten songs I'd written on an acoustic guitar for an album would sound better on an electric and with drums. I'd hung out with Bob a few times previously and seen his other bands a bunch of times, so I gave him a call and he seemed up for it. I sent him acoustic demos I'd recorded on my laptop and I'm not sure if he liked it or not, but either way we practised for a few weeks and then went to record. Pete played bass on the album and for our first few shows we had a revolving bass player situation. Then Iona came on our first tour as a band and it was awesome so it stayed that. She's sung on everything I recorded solo before the album, so she's always been involved.
